I'm cookin up a "Robust Pilsner" for now. I want to get some basic stuff down first then I'm gonna go after canadian lagers, then to german ale, and then once i'm pretty good at this stuff i want to try out british and irish stouts. basically starting out blonde and moving towards darker thicker beers with no sugar added.
Cost me about 65 bucks for my kit plus like 25 for "the complete joy of homebrewing" by Charlie Papazian. Great book, highly recommend. I got with my kit a primary fermenter, glass carboy and air lock, thermometer, hydrometer, sanitizer and brushes, syphon and tubing and some other odds and ends. Bottles didnt come with the kit but i bought a box of 12 1-liter bottles with EZ tops for 20 bucks. a reciepe box with all the stuff to cook cost me 15 bucks so all told i spent...65+25+20+15... 125. But now i'm all set. Each box costs about 15 bucks. Each box makes 5 gallons, which is about the size of two 24 pack cases. you can even cook up ur own recipes even cheaper but i'm not gonna try that just yet...
