  • Going back to the dyno shortly - place your bets!

Yes, it is almost that time.

The local f body crew is hosting a dyno day and I am strongly thinking about going. I'm looking for some decent #'s.

Now.... you may say.... james.... is the car ready?? I say, of course!

Granted.... you all would like to see some new #'s from me w/ a new abbot cam and 2nd stage of nitrous right??

Well, I have to warm up the dyno rollers before I bust out the bird..... so I shall bring the SEXINESS!

Yup, my 2004 Dodge neon SXT 5 speed!
Rated at 132 HP and 130 TQ

I cliked off a 15.7 with just the cold air kit.... never ran it with the exhaust.... but I'll do it sooner or later.

    I have added the following:
    Iceman cold air kit
SRT4 exhaust piping from the manifold back
I am picking up a dodge neon R/T muffler shortly. I used to run the entire SRT4 exhaust.... but the rear section has no muffler... and is a bit loud and hurt low end HP, TQ and fuel economy. I put the stock muffler back on and HP, TQ and fuel economy went up. So.... the R/T muffler should give me the best of both worlds - power and fuel economy w/o the annoying fart pipe sound.

Basically, intake and exhaust (T/B and exhaust manifold are stock).

Most of the local f body guys at this dyno day are bringing their beaters.... it should be fun and make for some rediculously low RWHP and RWTQ #'s

I am going to take a guess that I will make:
    115-116 FWHP
    119-120 FWTQ

    Any guessers????

Jeez..... front wheel horsepower/ torque sounds so funny!

Oh yeah.... I should probably explain the bird thing a bit more.... yup... getting a cam and extra's soon and maybe later this year add a second stage nitrous (dry). I think I may bring the wet shot down to 75 and experiment with dry (50-75) to see the results. Updates/ pic's to come.

You're not embarrassed to put that on a dyno?

              Bring out the Bird!!!!

What's this about a new cam and 2nd stage nitrous?

Embarresed?? Hell no. I think it is kinda funny.

Bird hasn't seen any changes since last dyno so it would be a waste of money.

As for mods for the bird.
I think I will go with the abbot N/A cam, timing chain, different roller rockers etc.

Then throughout the rest of this year I'll put together a dry kit for a second stage - nothing to insane... 50 - 75 shot for the 2nd stage. I would probably drop the current wet shot from 100 to 75.

                Time will tell.
