I just saw SmokePanther's thread about several people walking out on their job and leaving him and someone else to do everything and it made me think about something that has been going through my mind since I read this article.
My company is actually in the top ten for best small companies on that list.
I think that if you are respected, not lied to, and listened to then you are much more likely to be loyal to your employeer. I would never just walk away from my job, because I wouldn't want to leave the people there in a situation like that other thread.
I think you can still be loyal to your employeer and not stay their your whole career. The idea of staying at one job your whole career has become dated. Frankly, if your company is mad at you for moving on to bigger and better things then they aren't being very loyal to you. That is assuming you leave on good terms.
Re: employee Loyalty (warning some reading involved)
I am loyal to my family and friends. As far as work goes, I do the best job I can and travel more than I have to. I have been with them for about 10 years and all they would have to do is not pay me and I would be gone. Or if I was offered enough money I would change jobs. So I'm not sure if I would consider that loyal or not.
Re: employee Loyalty (warning some reading involved)
I used to work for JC Penney and if they would ask me to work longer or close everyday that I had to work I said yes. I just thought that it would be a great way to show them that i was willing to do anything for the company. I worked there for two years before I quit and one of the reasons was that even though I received a lot of thanks it wasnt reflected by how much I was making. So I thought I had to be loyal in the beginnig but now I know better. Now that I work at the ARC and with the coworkers leaving us like they did all of a sudden I feel like I have to stay just untill everything gets setteled. But loyalty is a two way street. You have to feel comfortable that your employeer wont try to screw you over any chance they get and the employeer has to be confident with who they hire and that they wont leave the company for some stupid reason.
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
