Saw it on my homepage, looked interesting, but the front of the concept kinda reminds me of the new camaro, and i don't want the camaro to look like an electric car..
ehh... i don't like it... and it's range would be useless for me... im not gonna stop somewhere for 6 and a half hours to charge my batteries on my way home from college... Texas is too big for electric cars i think... lol

Its more like the hybrids of today, it's gonna have the normal combustion engine to power it when the battery is low and charge the battery other times. It would only use the fuel engine when the batteries were dead though, so it'd be a lot better with fuel than even todays hybrids.
OLD news dude.. that debuted at the North American International Auto Show in detroit back in mid january.
that aside, i think it's sweet. They were ballparking the price around 28 grand. i'd definately buy it. The sweetest thing is that its COMPLETELY electrically powered. the gas engine ONLY charges the battery. that means it can stick at one rpm and stay there. Having an engine stick at one rpm opens up SOOO many doors as far as design goes...

Where in my post did i say it was new news? Anyway, it wasn't discussed on the board back when it was new news, and I thought i would share with those who didn't know, and get input from those who did, and those who didn't.
Some people are making fantastic improvements with electric cars. Yes, the battery technology is still a little lacking, but with time that will be inline with what people would expect from a regular car.
it took up until now to get extremely reliable long lasting moderately powerful 4 and 6 cyl eninges....why star a new project wen another is barely finished

have you thought about the environment? The combustion engine could get to be reliable enough to last a century, but it won't make a difference if the planet is uninhabitable.
Also, no one knows when the oil is going to run out...personally I think we have more than we are letting on, but what happens when nearly half of the 1.2 billion Chinese and 1 billion Indians are driving a combustion engine vehicle? Its going to run out eventually and if it took this long to get a reliable combustion engine as you suggest, then its probably going to take just as long to get a reliable electric engine...so before we're SOL we might as well develop now. My $0.02.
