      Re: Mazda MX6

      ok dude,
a few things: first, i respect your ambitions but i gotta :twak: u for not paying attention to detail. Nothing i hate more than a polished intake with the gritty texture to it still. it really should've been sanded down. The front strut tower brace to me seems pointless. Strut tower braces are great, but why would you put those hinges in there? seems to me the hinges would destroy any utility there. The b-pillar brace is just wrong on so many levels. you already know the worst thing: its flat out unsafe to anchor your belts to. if an OEM put that out, they'd be sued so fast for so much it'd just be rediculous. not only that, it looks like a cheap imitation for a roll cage, and takes up interior space.. there are much better designs for subframes available online, that'd do what you're looking to do, and would mount under car and outta the way. i respect your willingness to fabricate, but put some thought into what you wanna do and WHY your design is gonna fix the problem.

It seems that "ricers" think we hate them because we hate anything not red blooded american and thats all we growed up with back on the farm and we won't HEAR of nothin' else!
not the case. this is why we dislike the vast majority of "ricers": people buy those cars cuz they're cheap. whats wrong with cheap you ask? look, if you want to do something, you gotta do it right. you gotta pay attention to every little detail, make everything completely fuctional and stylish. The majority of the "rice" cars we see on the road are nothing but posers. The hoods are PAINTED black rather than true carbon fiber. The DISGUSTING (not to mention pointless) wing on the back, the fart can muffler (rather than dropping the money for a full exhaust), etc. etc. ect.
i guess my point is this: cars are an expensive hobby. theres no way around that. trying to take the easy way out just makes you look like a fool. believe me, i wish it were easy. i'd love nothing more than to buy a turbocharger right now (i got the money) and throw that bad boy on there. but i dont have the money for the engine internals, or the machining labor once i get it apart. I see that you spent some serious coin w/ that hood and on your interior, but the point i'm trying to make to you is to pay attention to every detail, and do a thorough job with everything. think it all out. nobody on this board will argue with the fact Supra's are sweet cars. same for skyliners. Japan makes good cars but when people get too absorbed with making thier car look good rather than actually function... it just gets stupid. remember: a car's essence, the thing that makes it a car and not just a hunk of steel is its ablity to "go". no go, no show, no dough (or ponnany), whichever your going for...
as far as the body kit goes... i'm with jesus on this one:

        Re: Mazda MX6

Hm well thanks for the responses, and I knew about the bar and safety issues with it when i made it... and its not meant to be a roll cage of any sort, its meant to be a brace like someone said..
The a pillar bar was on there when i got the car, and as far as i see ALL a brace bars are like that for my car, unless i made my own.
It is a real CF hood, and im not painting it..why would you paint carbon fiber? I wouldnt see the point, it looks fine the way it is.
The kit is my choise to fix my busted bumper that just recently happened, if that didnt happen I wouldnt have gotten it.
I know cars are an expensive hobby, the stuff thats on the car is expensive enough, i do find pretty good deals on most the stuff though.

As for the intake...if you look back at the pictures, I have a spare that is being sanded and grinded down...not sure if you missed that one. BTW that intake pic is an IN progress intake....its not done yet.

As for the parts on the car and cost.
New carbon fiber hood is 800...I got it for 300.
Rims you figure maybe 500-1000 or so. i got those for 250.
the bar i made for free.
I straped the harness to it opposed to straping them to the floor which would crush my spine on impact. the bar is much safer in terms of what it WAS before.
the kit was 405, install is a different story. And the engine mods I expect to happen this summer or some other time..

I plan to go with a t3/t4 garret turbo, starting out at 7 psi with an fmu and not megasquirt.
255 walboro fuel pump to take care of the fuel part, along with millenia S injectors, or maybe 300zx swap.
Hot pipes and Cold pipes can be had anywhere for these cars. Any bov works, and wastegates are also anywhere.
As I get it all worked out i plan to up the boost to 10 psi, intercooled after that, and add the megasquirt management system. Then i can play with the boost a little more on that note.
Its dropped on slide over coilovers at the moment. I plan to upgrade to k sport full coilovers.
In time...or i may just sell out and get myself an rx7 which i would have if i could afford it.
        Thanks guys

          Re: Mazda MX6

i'm not tryin to flame you or shoot down your dreams or anything. far from it dude. the thing about the hoods is that alotta people will just paint their stock hood black rather than going carbon fiber, which is what i mean as far as taking the easy way out. i cant put my thoughts together today but in a nutshell:
you've done a pretty good job w/ interiors and the hood and all... just dont ever let yourself take shortcuts. its what so many "ricers" seem to do. this kid who's got a pontiac vibe is at my house now... he's got neon lights underneath and a 1500 watt system and is looking to put lambo doors on it. unfortunatley he's forgotten that a car is only really as cool as its engine and without balls to back it up, well the car is just plain stupid. basically he's drawing attention to a car that doesnt do what a car is meant ot do: go, and go fast.

i'll never talk down about a ricer that'll haul a$$... reliably anyways. they always seem to blow up cuz they dont put the neccessary money, thought or effort into building their cars the right way. it'd be like Cadillac making a sweet escalade, but putting crappy powertrain parts in so that it'll be slow, rough and inefficient. so much potential, but the money was spent on the 2nd priority... not the first.

As long as you like it then hey, go for it

I believe the point of carbon fiber is weight reduction right?...but ricers like the looks of it i guess (no offense)

Why not just leave/return the seatbelts to stock...prob a hell of a lot safer

Hey come on guys leave the kid alone. Everyones got to start somewhere, we can't all just buy 20k worth of parts and have our cars in pieces for 7 months...

Please Bah's friend.. don't get the body kit... or at least not that one. I mean.. MX6s are good looking cars, and that body kit is soooo ugly, there's got to be better looking ones, no?

Yea the tires were directionals, and BALD. Got them from a kid around here and put them on to see what they would look like and put them on the wrong way . haha opps. But I took them off pretty quick as I couldnt drive well on them. They are just setting in the room now.

Sorry but the kit you see there IS mine, thats in my living room. And there are a few kits for the car. 1 is extremely rare, and the other is like a box..contradicts the lines of the car too much, so i got this one.:)

Ah well to each his own. I like it:tup:
