From a financial standpoint it seems a V8 would be much smarter. I mean a LS1 CAN run high 12's with just an intake a drag tires without risking a nitrious backfire...

Dont get me wrong I love your car and I admire you for all the work you've put into it, hell I usually model my pewter ls1 after the appearance of yours but sometimes it just doesnt make sense.

Why not build a V8 and smoke all the other V8 guys?

v6 better gas mileage... weighs less... cheaper.... long lasting motor....

thats why modding it instead of an ls1 isn't so bad

Not really.. i mean we get marginally better mileage, weigh but a driver and a full tank less, and the engine is durable, but so is an ls1. All in all isn't the purpose of modding a car to make it faster? LSXs respond better to mods so you're gonna get much better horsepower per dollar out of it.

[/thread] i'm sorry i brought this up, lol

Its just guys looking down, and knowing that they need to make up for something missing in the girth department.

gas mileage is comparable between the two, especially if the '6 has been modded.
Trans Am's are only about 100 lbs heavier than Firebirds and the difference is even less b/t a Formula and Firebird.
Depending on options/mileage, I've seen some V6's sell for more than a V8.
A modded 3800 generally does last longer than a comparable LS1, but both can be destroyed if the owner is careless in building it up.

so, the only real difference is a matter of personal opinion

                            gas mileage?

i actually get better gas mileage with my LS1 3.23 A4 than with my L36 3.41 A4 (on the highway). it has consistently worked out to about 2mpg more highway and 1.5 mpg less in the city. maybe my v6 just had $hitty gas mileage though. i used to get 20mpg city and not even 22mpg highway.

v6 is great for insurance cost, changing 2 less spark plugs, having a lower profile car (as in not appearing to be a v8 douche bag) and not breaking stuff by just stomping on the gas all the time.

V8's will always be better. I started out with a v6 then bought a v8 and never looked back. I still own my 6 but also 3 v8's.
