Every time someone asks me "why didn't you just swap an LS1 into your car instead of having all that work done on your V6?" I become more and more determined to make the V6 faster. Herre are the reasons I modify my six instead of just doing a swap:
1. The work I've had done so far doesn't equal the amount of money it would take to swap in an LS1/T56 combo, and by the time I get there, it will be just as fast as a stock LS1 anyway.
2. EVERYONE at the track in a Camaro is running an LT1 or LS1. What's so great about having a stock LS1 that runs 13.5? Big f-ing deal, you have a stock engine. A V6 that runs better than average times is far more impressive than a stock LS1 that runs average times. Ignorant people don't understand this, they just look at the bottom line. If I was going to do a V8 swap, I'd at least want to buy heads and cam for it so it runs faster than a stock motor, but that just runs up the cost more.
3. I got my car when I was 17, and I loved it. I don't think ANY 17-year-old kid should get a car as fast as an LT1 or LS1. I was proud of what I had, and happy with it, but so many people said something along the lines of "too bad it's not a V8" or "the V6s are so slow, they have no power." I despise jealous f-ing douchebags, and have been trying to prove ever since that my V6 can kick ***. A$$holes like these partially ruined my experience of getting a nice car. If the Camaro didn't come with a V8 engine, those people would not be saying things like that.
4. I'm just ****ing stubborn! Don't tell me my car sucks, or that it will never be fast, because I'm just going to set out to prove you wrong.
I will be a member of the 13-second NA club by the end of the summer, hopefully, and that's good enough to beat stock LT1s. I can't ****ing wait, because then it will be blower time. This message is partially directed to everyone who is buying V8s: every year there are a bunch that trade in, and hey, if that's what you want, go for it, but that's easy. An LS1 or LT1 that runs mid-13s is a dime a dozen, but a V6 that runs 13s is amazing. I will not give up on this motor. It will run fast, it will be reliable, and it won't need 4.10 gears. With some DRs, a new exhaust system, and a track that doesn't run slow as hell, it will come very close to hitting that goal. A fast V6 is unique, a fast V8 is par for the course.
I hate it when people tell me what I should do with my car.
