You guys act like you cant mod a Ls1 and I just dont get it.
yea, there's always that huge double-standard whenever people bring up this subject in the V6 community...it's ok for people to mod their V6's till their bank accounts scream for mercy, but they'll only call out mostly-stock LS1's to race...

Well sure, but remember they're in two different classes. If this were racing the v8s would be like the Prototypes and the v6s the GT1, they're both fast... but **** those prototypes look like spaceships

I'm not saying you can't mod LS1s, I'm just tired of people acting like I'm a dumb**** for modifying my 6. I will have an LS1 car (or an LSX car) someday, because I think it's one of the best motors ever made, but people shouldn't act like I'm such an idiot for modifying the engine i have now.
I love the V8 sound and the power, and I don't remember bashing anyone for getting a V8. Let's face it though, MOST people that buy LS1 cars (or any car for that matter) don't make them that much faster than stock. Otherwise an 11-second car wouldn't be impressive.
I see people posting their V8 times on this board and I'm really not impressed at all. YAY, you ran 13.4 with a stock LS1...but you're posting on a V6 board. Hell yeah, let's brag to all the V6 guys about my fast car. You know what, if I got an LS1 car tomorrow I wouldn't be posting my times here, I'd go over to LS1.com or CZ28.com or somewhere it doesn't seem quite as impressive. You know what they'd say to you over there? "Seems about average for stock, go get an airbox and some DRs and you'll hit 12s easy." No, "OMG that's great, good times! Oh wait, you have a V8?"
ahank: I like your attitude, I love Camaros and Firebirds, V6 or V8.
Sorry about the rant, but I just needed to get that out. I love LS1s, I don't blame anyone for buying one, and I definitely don't blame anyone for modding them, but I'm just tired of the superiority thing. There are so many cool people out there with V8 cars, why can't EVERYONE be like that?

Please dont think my last post was directed at you CamaroRulz. My point is that we see these rants/arguments once a month and its just getting old. You shouldnt have to justify to the world why you are modding a v6. I quit explaining it to people (unless someone politely asks me).
F*ck the haters, do what you want with your car, otherwise its none of their business (that goes for v6'ers bashing v8's too). :)
I agree with you, I just get sick of it sometimes. Some guy said something to me at the track and it's been getting under my skin.

Every time someone asks me "why didn't you just swap an LS1 into your car instead of having all that work done on your V6?" I become more and more determined to make the V6 faster. Herre are the reasons I modify my six instead of just doing a swap:
1. The work I've had done so far doesn't equal the amount of money it would take to swap in an LS1/T56 combo, and by the time I get there, it will be just as fast as a stock LS1 anyway.
2. EVERYONE at the track in a Camaro is running an LT1 or LS1. What's so great about having a stock LS1 that runs 13.5? Big f-ing deal, you have a stock engine. A V6 that runs better than average times is far more impressive than a stock LS1 that runs average times. Ignorant people don't understand this, they just look at the bottom line. If I was going to do a V8 swap, I'd at least want to buy heads and cam for it so it runs faster than a stock motor, but that just runs up the cost more.
3. I got my car when I was 17, and I loved it. I don't think ANY 17-year-old kid should get a car as fast as an LT1 or LS1. I was proud of what I had, and happy with it, but so many people said something along the lines of "too bad it's not a V8" or "the V6s are so slow, they have no power." I despise jealous f-ing douchebags, and have been trying to prove ever since that my V6 can kick ***. A$$holes like these partially ruined my experience of getting a nice car. If the Camaro didn't come with a V8 engine, those people would not be saying things like that.
4. I'm just ****ing stubborn! Don't tell me my car sucks, or that it will never be fast, because I'm just going to set out to prove you wrong.
I will be a member of the 13-second NA club by the end of the summer, hopefully, and that's good enough to beat stock LT1s. I can't ****ing wait, because then it will be blower time. This message is partially directed to everyone who is buying V8s: every year there are a bunch that trade in, and hey, if that's what you want, go for it, but that's easy. An LS1 or LT1 that runs mid-13s is a dime a dozen, but a V6 that runs 13s is amazing. I will not give up on this motor. It will run fast, it will be reliable, and it won't need 4.10 gears. With some DRs, a new exhaust system, and a track that doesn't run slow as hell, it will come very close to hitting that goal. A fast V6 is unique, a fast V8 is par for the course.
I hate it when people tell me what I should do with my car.
/rant
Ive been saying the same s*** for 5 years now. Nothing new. Eventually, you just block out the naysayers, and do what you gotta do. I actually agree with you, but from my standpoint, and take it from me, you will ALWAYS have someone look at you like a moron for fixing up a 6. I have gotten that look, those words, and the laughs for a LONG time, and I haven't even started the project yet. You just have to deal with it, cause its never going to end.

See thats my point. I understand your frustration, but I dont let it get under my skin anymore and neither should you. Its not worth it man, save your breath and energy. Thats why we have this website, talk about your v6 without being harrassed for it.
Now I will say, there are people who have talked crap about my car at local shows, I heard them and saw them. They were import and Mustang drivers. The Fbody v8 guys in my area and the Fbody v8 guys on this board have been pretty damn cool to me so I have a lot of respect for them. :D
who cares if a member here posts times from their v8? a few of us who have moved on want to share times from our new cars with the forum. ya, they might be average, but who really cares. i see nothing wrong with people wanting to share their times from their cars, it has nothing to do with being superior.
current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it
Other people besides me care, and I don't really care THAT much, I was just throwing it out there while I was on a rant.
Whatever you think, this board is the best. I'm out.

Yea it is funny how some people just don't understand, I had my car at the dealership where my dad works on Friday for the K member and lower A arms to be installed and while standing outside the tech was pulling in my car and my dad was talking with some other guys and when pulling it in one of the guys asked so what does he have it that thing a LT1. My dad told the guy no, it just a 3.8., but it will get up and go. He has alot of work in it cam pistons etc. and will beat alot of the V8's out there. So when I had it on the lift about at least 20 or so guys came around( techs and sales peolple) looking at it asking me what it runs and what not(told them no times but just said what I have done to it). None of them even metioned putting a V8 in it or anything like that , they were just amazed of how much time and work I put into it. I thought was pretty cool. But the other dealership my dad work at , there were a couple of techs who were ****s and always said when are you going to put a v8 in there or a real motor in there. Those guys I always told them go get your civic you drove to work and lets race.LOL So I just figure theres always going to be guys making comments about everything.

Well sure, but remember they're in two different classes.
It's still a hollow victory, b/c even if you win, they'll just lean back and say something along the lines of "throw enough dollars at it, and it can do anything"

Wrong. For example..the LS1tech timeslip database is 39 pages long...nearly 16 of those pages are 12.0 or faster. For this site, only 18 entries out of 78 are 14.0 or faster.
40% of LS1tech cars are "much faster" than stock
23% of CV6 cars are "much faster" than stock
Based on that, you should have more anger aimed towards the V6 community rather than the V8 group.
I see people posting their V8 times on this board and I'm really not impressed at all.
You do realize that you're doing the exact same thing those meany V8 drivers are doing to you...?

But, I'm willing to bet that if you ever do get into the 13's, you'll run over to the V8 boards and brag about it.

Can't believe I missed this...the definition of "fast" is reletive, not absolute...what's fast for a V6 is slow for an LS1

I think he might be talking about me. I posted my new times up there and I caught some flack from a few people.
The reason I still post up here is because this forum is where I started. I had a 96 3.8L fireturd, then I got a 02 3.8L Camero, which I still have, then I bought the WS6. I stick around here because I like this place. I still whore over on SSU/LS1tech but I'm not just going to up and leave because I got a different car. Sorry if I offended your with my times, but your going to have to get used to it. I ain't leaving. so :P lol
