Re: Why I modify my V6

I noticed when I had my 6... the only people that looked at me and went, "pfft, you didn't get a V8?", were people driving econo cars... Seriously man, you've got an old Camry and you're poking fun at my car? I just had to laugh when it happened.

Yea, honestly, this was the kind of debate I used to hear allll the time..... in high school, when you actually gave a s**t about what others thought :)

I mean, come on, if we have to hear crap from import/mustang drivers, why bash on each other?

Do I think Trans Am's and Z28's are bad ***? HELL YEA.

But do I care to pay more insurance and more gas? No, not really. I have a 4 year old son, and got the speeding tickets in my past, and dont plan on getting anymore. I live on Cape Cod, and we dont have any real tracks around here, and to be honest, I really dont care much to go. Maybe I would one day, but as for now, Im happy with my Firebird. I would rather spend 5k to make it look sick/nice sound system then performance. I know alot of people hate hearing that, but its true. I HAVE thought about doing the ls conversion, but then I ask myself "why? so i dont have to worry about people saying negative things about my car, when they most likely drive a **** box?" I mean, lets face it, we are all here because we see our cars as the greatest, and if you didnt, you wouldnt own one. I mean, if you had to go with an affordable car but had NO clue what it had in it for power, what would you buy? a camry? a sentra? a honda? or a camaro/firebird?

Re: Why I modify my V6

if you have the extra cash to throw around, mod the v6. it is fun and rewarding.

now... if you're looking at a sizable amount of extra cash, you'd do yourself a favor by reaching for the LS1. that said, if i had a sizable amount of cash, i'd reach for a c5 or c6 vette (although what i really want is the LS7).

sure, over time the mods add up and some jerk might come around and say you've dumped so much into your v6 that you could have bought a v8. if you fall victim to that nonsensical logic, why have you been driving all these years? you could have been riding a bike (saving money on car payments, gas, insurance, registration, speeding tickets, etc) and saved up enough for a [insert random supercar].

i miss my v6. it was my gateway car into my LS1. before my v6 camaro, i never gave much thought to what my 1/4 mile could be or how much hp i could get to the wheels. these (fbodies with any engine) are awesome cars and you'd be a fool to resist the urge to mod them.

You shouldn't trust your eyes, they can decieve you.

Just because they weren't in a $30K+, 9 sec. car at the time doesn't mean they don't know what power is. All my friends that have legitimately fast V8's don't daily driver them...they're specifically weekend cruisers or track s1uts. And guess what they drive during the week...you guessed it, an economy car. And can ya guess why? Because it's *gasp* more economical to do so.

Now, there are some kids that only have a crappy car and run their mouth just to run their mouth...but are they really worth getting all worked up over? I think not

You live on the cape? Oh cool, please tell me you live by the beach... that would be a perfect place for a NE meet.

                  Outstanding, erudite response.
For an old guy (sorta), who has owned many fine cars and cycles, I have found thrills harder to relish and convince myself they were worth the risk or $.
With my V6 F-body (should I ever get it running:mad: ), I get to relive the thrill my Uncle got in a 6 cyl Jaguar, which if it could not out-drag another car, could loose it on any road short of a freeway.
Unromantic exhaust note? So did the MG I drove and fixed in college.
Some comedian crashed his Ferrari Enzo while practicing for a celeb race on TV this morning? I may have driven my MkVIII up the hollow back home in East TN that fast; thunder road...
Let them rant and rag; like the Go-Go's sang, 'It doesn't matter what they say...'...

Even with the handling and MPG advantage, we drive for sport, and enjoyment. Perhaps there is some logic to that old line about guys driving big engined rods, to compensate for their rod(s) (or lack thereof):) ...

These are awesome cars, and I am glad to be a fool for them.

It's because of our small penises. I wish I didn't sell my V6, my penis was so much bigger back then :(

Do you think I didn't ask them what they drove after they made the comment? You notice I said I just laughed, because I don't care, and never did. I found it funny that of all people to poke fun, it was people with no room to talk.

And I'm one of those guys who stores their V8 and drives an "economy" car, if you want to call it that, so you are preaching to the choir bud.

+1 for the small penis argument being entirely stupid.
