I've got a Kodak LSX745 (I think, can't remember model # exactly). It's a nice camera, 5MP, good video (if you can convert it from the default .mov format), and cheap. I think we paid $200 for the camera and docking station (battery indicator, recharges, hooks it to the pc, one touch transfer, all the goodies) after Christmas, and I think the price has gone down even more. We bought a 512MB SD Card for it, and we never get the thing half full (Card holds roughly 325 pictures on highest quality, camera's internal memory does about 30 on highest quality). I can take these pictures and blow them up 3x their original size in photoshop and they still look perfect.
That's the only thing i completely hate about kodaks... they have to have that stupid docking station... instead of the 6 pin usb that most others use... and it's slower than a standard 6 pin... i think the crappy ones from kodak are the ones that use the 6 pin...
it's good that you've narrowed it down to canon and sony...
canon will be the better CAMERA... it'll do everything... and do it very well...
sony cybershots have quite a bit of functionality... but they're really slim and stylish...
check out the nikon coolpix s6 is also a really stylish camera... uber thin... with a huge screen on the back...
check em out on cnet though... they'll have the best reviews... they'll tell you everything you need to know...
that site basically influenced me to buy my last 4 cameras.. they were all great. damn, 4 cameras?! hmm, well i have the 12x zoom prosumer cameras (one was a 4 mp and the newer one is 8mp) and the pocket sized cameras (3mp and newer one is 5mp and takes pictures up to 1600iso - no more blurry pics in bad lighting)... glad i have the car distract me now.
Canon without a doubt. I've got over $3000 in Canon DSLR equipment, but on the side I still use a Canon point-and-shoot. I use a PowerShot A710 IS. It is pretty small...I can easily fit it in my pocket. Pics are great, as are the videos. I have a bunch of pics from my skiing trip with MTMike here.
For something even more slim, go with either the SD800 IS or SD700 IS. SD800 is newer, with the DIGIC III processor, while the SD700 and A710 IS both have DIGIC II.
The A710 IS has better optical zoom than either of the SDs. The A710 IS also has a faster aperture on the zoom end than the SDs. The SD800 opens to f/5.8 at max zoom, while the A710 IS is f/4.8 at its max zoom. This means the A710 IS will be able to take better quality pics in low light.
Whichever you get, don't get one without image stabilization. Makes for awesome pics even in low light conditions. Other cameras would have to up the film speed to get the same exposure, but that results in more noise in the pic.
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
