    the only other thing i see is this

    should the hole in the gasket stray that far from the hole on the head?

      Some of the gasket holes are NOT perfect size. For that, it could just be a small circle. That's just how it is.

      On the other hand, we think that the head is cracked on that cylinder. That's the one that had a bent valve, broken guide, worn spring, etc... So it only makes sense.

      Woulda been nice to have the head tested when the guide was replaced and the car would be driving like normal right now.

      We'll see...
