My POS computer, round 2.

Well, I did a system restore to about a month ago. Things seemed to be working great. No more of the immediate reboot on start up. I go to run Firefox, and its corrupted. No worries, just delete it and re-install the new one. I download the new version. As soon as I run the setup, bam, reboots. Ok, apparently Firefox is F'ing with the computer. No worries again, I'll just use IE.

IE works just fine. That is until about 25 min or so goes by. At that point I lose connection and IE cannot find any pages. But, I didn't lose internet, because I can still download updates for my programs, and I'm still on AIM... If I reboot, I get another approx 20 min or so to use the internet before it sh*ts the bed again.

Well, im confused. Any ideas? Im downloading Netscape as we speak to give that a shot.

ISP maybe? The browser shuts down completly or it just won't access pages?

It just stops accessing pages. Looks like Netscape does the same thing... :(

Edit: I just realized what ISP means. Nah, its not that because the other computer in the house is having no issues.

Sounds like you have some damaged winsock stacks.
First run a full scan with spybot and ad-aware. An overnight antivirus scan couldn't hurt either.
After that, give either of these programs a shot:
LSP Fix
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
WinSock XP (my preferred choice)
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

If you are still having random reboot problems I can help you with those too.

Sounds like you have some damaged winsock stacks.
First run a full scan with spybot and ad-aware. An overnight antivirus scan couldn't hurt either.

may seem a bit dumb but i had this problem... i could connect to the internet thorugh aim and all that, and utorrent was still downloading all the active stuff.... but couldnt browse..... i reset my modem and router and it fixed it..... kept happening so i kept doing that..... finally just ended up gettin a new router..... problem fixed :-)

Winsock XP Fix will be the easiest as compared to LSP fix. It has an easier and more straight-forward GUI. They both do, essentialy, the same thing. I was just giving you a few options on your choice of programs.

Interesting... What is odd though is the other computer through that router does not always lose internet connection. But it does sometimes, as I will get into below:

Speedyz, I didn't get a chance to run that winsock program yet. But I wanted to tell you that sometimes the other computer IS affected. I noticed one of the times I lost internet, the other computer also lost connection, but only through a browser, as I said earlier. After I reset the router, the other computer worked like a champ, but mine failed to find a connection. Only on re-boot did it find the internet again.

So it seems like I may have two problems... My router or ISP is having a hiccup, which the new computer can solve on its own, while mine can't reset itself with out a reboot. Making any sense?

No dice bud. :( I ran the program, it said it made the fix, then about 15 min later, no internet.
