  • My firebird is destroyed - pictures uploaded

Sigh..... where to begin.... well, if you have seen the news lately then you are aware that the NJ/ NY area just got destroyed with insane rain and flooding.

Central park in nyc saw 7 or 8 inches of rain in a 24 hr period.

I survived..my fiance survived.... my house is standing..... but lost the bird.

Right now there is 4.5 feet of water surrounding my house.... and the bird is in the driveway..... even sitting up on concrete blocks it is virtually immersed in water. I will post pictures soon.

Just the t tops can be seen.

I can't even get into my house right now.... water is too deep and the current is too strong. I would assume I lost my water heater.... most likely the washer, dryer and furnace.

I think I had most of my valuables out of the basement..... but tools n car parts etc are under water.

To put things into perspective.... my "basement" is the ground level.... the living quarters are on the 2nd floor.

I'm at one of my parents houses now..... not sure when the police will let me in the house.... but I plan on sneaking in the woods just like yesterday to see my house.

I can deal with losing the water heater... washer n dryer.... furnace etc..... but the bird has hurt me.

I have made a name for myself.... met so many valuable/great friends.... been in many different magazines.... held many records over the years.... but now it all comes to an end.

Ultimately.... everything that has been destroyed/ affected by the flood waters is replaceable.

I'm just kinda in limbo right now.... I have been able to joke about it.... but I'm a bit numb/ hurt when it comes to the bird.

Even if the bird dries out.... I expect it to be an electrical nightmare for many years.... engine is toast... tranny is toast... nitrous bits toast... rear is toast etc....

And what does the future hold???? Do I rebuild? Do I buy a new v6 and salvage some of the parts off my old v6? Do I call it quits???

I don't know if I can make any of those decisions right now.

Well..... when I can get into the house... I will take pictures.....I'm left speechless though. My fiance was about to buy me a cam for a wedding present.... and a 2nd stage of nitrous was going on shortly after.... that all will not happen now.

Well..... in an hour I will go back to my house.... not sure if I can get in yet.... we shall see.

I've been damn strong through this whole thing.... but as I type.... I did shed a tear.... damn.... my bird has sooooooo many good memories....

OK..... I'm out for a bit..... take care people.

damn man sorry to hear that, if you decide to toss the whole thing you could proably part it out and do ok, even with the water damage you could get more for most of the little odds and ends you have than you'd get from insurance. Just use that as seed money, surely there is some other car that you have wanted to buy and make fast. Ahh well like you said it's just a car, glad you and the fiancee are ok. Take care.

I'm very sorry to hear that. I always had a lot of respect (and envy) of that car.

Hopefully you can make it work.
