HAHAHA, yeah, I've seen it. I pulled out from my apartment, and spun the tires up to about 60ish (just a little wet outside). I lifted, and the car slowed down, but when I got back into the throttle the car wouldn't hardly pull itself. I pulled off the road, shut it down, and let it set for about 5 minutes. Started it back up and the light was gone and the car ran like a top. I dunno, so don't ask why?
i've only experianced that pain (rev limit at 2000, top speed 40 mph) when i've had electical issues. I'd check those first.

I had it on one time once, forgot why? I was doing some stuff with the car. I think I had a few sensors unhooked checking something and the light came on.
I think I had the MAF unhooked and 2 cylinders misfiring(crossed the wires) and that is what set it off, just doesn't let you go above certain rpms...
Mine came on once and it completely shut off my throttle control. No matter what i did i couldn't get the engine rev up at all, it just idled. I had to coast my way off the highway in neutral and once I coasted onto a side street and finally rolled to a stop, the engine stalled.
That light never went off and when i tried to start the car again it wouldn't even turn over. And of course this is the one time I had EVER driven without a cell phone and I had stalled in the middle of nowhere. I tried a couple more times, then i checked the sensors and wires to make sure everything was where it was supposed to be (And it was). Ten minutes later it I tried again and it started right up, no problem at all and i never had a problem with it after that.
I have no clue why it happened, how it happened or how it fixed itself. I only know is that stupid little "Reduced engine power" light came on, as if I couldn't already figure that part out.

I have a 99 Firebird and my car almost died at a stop sign ,i gave it a little gas and it picked back up.I turned and i lost all ability to give it any gas , i pulled over and checked all plug wires and coils and any other plugs i could see.Got back in the car and i noticed the "reduced engine power" light on....Shut it off and restarted it and it ran perfect for 2 seconds then went back to missing and stuttering .. So i unhooked the positive cable for a few seconds / rehooked it and all was fine..
