well i guess i am gonna have to take a look at firebirds and see if i can get one! and definetly a manual. that is why i am selling my car. i want a manual.
I got my 98 5speed 3.8L with 130k miles for about 4 grand.
Its in great shape and I get about 30 mpg on the interstate and 25 in town. Its not really fast, but its fast enough. Good luck finding a car and you might want to look on here in the for sale section.

is a car with like 130k miles ok to buy? or am i going to encounter problems with it at all?
all depends on the car. When you find one then test drive it and look at it yourself. If you don't feel comfortable then take it to someone and have them look at it. I always watch the idle when the car is cool and then warm, I watch the temp and let the car get idle to see if it gets too hot, I check the brakes and tranny (smoothness) and then go from there. If you find a problem with the car sputtering or missing or even overheating then move on to the next one.

if youre looking for v8s in your price range look at lt1s. they can be had for a **** ton less than a gt and are still faster, plus with them being a bit older the insurance wont be as hateful. (wasnt for me anyways)
the 3800 is a damn good engine. you wont be bummed if you buy a v6 bird and mod it.
current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it
These motors will last quite a while if they are well maintained... Mine just rolled over 187,000 miles. Definitely get the 3.8L, T-tops is a must. Of course you already want the 5spd, and don't worry about any "premium" stock sound system, they are all junk. Try to find one with the Y87 package if you want LSD.

ya my friend misinformed me on the LSD thing that is what i thought it was. and i knew most of this info but i am just making sure it was right. don't listen to your friends. lol
Get a Z28 or Trans Am, trust me on this one. Chances are the insurance won't be that much more, nor will the car/payments. I wasn't looking for a muscle car when i was car shopping, but i think if i had to do this over i'd have gotten the 8.
i don't know. they are a decent amount more than a regular firebird, plus more gas and more insurance. i mean i will look into it of course but i dunno thanks for all the help so far you guys rock.
a ls1 manual will get the same gas mileage as a v6 as long as ur not hot roding it
this is true, but if he's looking at price ranges then he's better off gettin a v6. If he goes for a lt1 then he'll be looking into the older cars. From what I understand he wants a newer model.
