  • new member firebird ?

Hey everyone! this is my first post here. Currently I haev a 2001 Grand Am GT. with exhaust and CAI. I am looking to sell it and get a new car. I was looking at getting a trans am or a camaro Z28, but i think they are a little out of my price range plus the cost of insurance and gas. i drive alot and am still young. So i was thinking of getting a firebird. are they fast? how much horsepower do they have? Would you recommend getting a firebird? or any suggestions for other cars would be helpful too. looking for a pretty fast manual car. wanted V8 but probably too much money. please help! thanks!

Probably about as quick as your GT. 160-170, depending on transmission. I got one cuz i wanted one. 00-02 would be your best bet w/ the y87 if you're looking for something peppy that's stock...but, if you're gonna mod it, any 96+ will do

A firebird would have more hp and tq, but I don't know if anyone would call them fast. They are still a lot of fun with RWD and T-Tops. I say go for it.

ya my grand am is rated 175 hp stock so with CAI and exhaust i don't know where it puts it... but i love the look of firebirds plus, T-tops and i really want a manual so. and i could put exhaust and cai in the firebird real easy to give it some more juice. anyone recommend any other car? or should i try and go for the v8? anyone?

Mustangs sound nice. They still aren't fast though.

mustangs arent all that fast, not worth it IMO... if you want to buy a firebird, go for it and you wont be disappointed

but they would be faster than a v6 firebird... and sound nicer. or how loud do v6 firebirds get with an aftermarket exhaust system?
or i could shell out the extra money for a trans am or z28. but then that is more insurance, and gas, and more for the car...

Get a Z28 or Trans Am, trust me on this one. Chances are the insurance won't be that much more, nor will the car/payments. I wasn't looking for a muscle car when i was car shopping, but i think if i had to do this over i'd have gotten the 8.
