oh i'm WAY due to get smashed... i just got new tires, fixed my exhaust hangers, detailed it, flushed the radiator fluid and am putting in new subs this weekend...

every time i do ANYTHING beneficial to a car i own i either get in an accident or have a near miss where i can thank only my alertness and good reactions. i swear its like final destination...

Sorry to hear about the accident. That doesn't seem like a lot of damage for the insurance company to decide to total the car. Maybe there's frame damage, but even at that it doesn't look that bad. Seems like an awful waste to me.

I do not think that it should be, the insurance company informed us that it was greater than 91% damaged and that a scrap title would be issued.
The parking spot that it is in is because it was drove there.
The car has been started and moved around several times since the accident.
The air bags did not go off and the wheels were able to turn fine.
They offered me $7,800, but I am going to push back a little bit because a lot of dealerships around here still have 02 v6 camaros going for 10,000 to 11,000
My insurance companies policy is to only use GM OEM parts so the estimate was $7,400 in damage. If they were to use aftermarket parts it would drop the damage to $6,000
If they would give me a decent amount back and not scrap the title I would fix it up and drive it.

It's weird about not flipping out when someone destroys your car. I was the same way when the guy hit me last summer.

i myself wouldnt be as calm as you... Were you on the phone with the police the whole time even when they were fleeing away? what Was ure passenger doing the whole time they were yelling at you?? if i was him i would be cussin them right back.. wow i would be so angry. It is good that you kept your cool and got with the police because in the end thats all that counts.. They seemed pretty obnoxious which i have no tolerance for, i dunno what i would have done in that situation. If the insurance gives you what you want, are you gonna buy another?

I agree, my passenger flagged down a car. He was running in the middle of the road and pointed at my car, then at the fleeing Taurus
They were very gracious to not only follow the bad guys and call 911, but also to stay after teh fact and give a report. I'm very grateful that they did.

I surprised myself at how I remained calm. Many years went into this car, from working at a gas station to make the payment, to the 6-8 hours spent in one day washing, claybarring and waxing.

Yes I was. I was on the phone seconds after the initial impact. They had enough information from me and hung up with me, then when they started circling the building I called 911 again and was on the phone with them telling them that the guys were taking off.

my passenger is one of my employees, I own a small moving company. I dont hire him for his brains, ill just say that first lol. He has been in trouble with the law for random fights before and he is a pretty big guy. I just stred at him and said calm down the police will be here and I dont need you getting hurt or arrested. He was so angry I couldnt even understand what he was saying. He did manage to hiss that if they come across the street he is going to hit them.

I am not sure at this point. I have thought about putting 10,000 down on an 04 GTO and financing 6,000 or 7,000 and keeping a small car payment
My camaro payment was 350 a month, so if i can keep it under 200 ill be happy.
