That sounds to me like a scam. I got emails from when I had rims for sale on craigslist from this particular guy, he basically said that he wanted to buy them right away and needed my name and address. I e-mailed back that the only way I'd do business if we talked on the phone first. Never got an answer. I'd email him back and say that you could set up a time to talk to him over the phone but he must give you his number first. See if there are any answers

Wes (Mogobs) has gotten a few things similar to that from listing his car on craigslist. Safest way to deal with it is to not give out ANY personal info. Totaly scam.

why would it be a scam? sounds to me like the guy is interested, you don't have to give any personal info out anyways, he is the one that has to send the money not you

                    Re: Scam?

The way it's worded. I've seen this happen soo many times. I've gotten them while having things on ebay.

Heres how it typically will go:

They will send you a cashiers check (counterfeit from a bank nowhere near you) for your asking amount plus a couple thousand dollars. They will say that the extra money is to ship the car over seas to somewhere in Europe.

Some people lose money on these, and their car, but some don't.

When I was working in CS in a bank, I remember getting a few calls in a week about our cashiers checks. It was money sent out for a couch or something to a guy in california, when our bank is in WI. He had sold the couch a while back too.

                      Re: Scam?

To add to Blown00's post... you may not know right away form the first e-mail that it is a scam, but if you exchange a few with them you can usually tell. It's easier to see if you have dealt with it before.

Kinda like bots on the internet that go to random forums and post threads, and everyone can tell it is a bot because it doesn't make sense or it is not worded like a normal person would talk. Do you guys ever get those here? We get them a lot on another forum that I frequent.

his text looks exactly like the guy who wanted to buy my boat...i figured it was a scam and went along with him , had him send me the cashiers check and all..it was from some bank in Va. and the guy claimed he was from canada, just to be safe i called the banks 1-800 number "just so i didnt cheat the guy by mistake" and sure enough the color of the check was'nt correct or was the routing number...so i waited for the guy to email asking about shipping dates and **** , and told him im waiting for his check and that maybe it was lost could he send out another one....he stopped emailing after that

I've been targeted with this type of scam before thru ebay. They send a fake payment, whatever type, check, cashiers check, paypal, etc, get the product and hope I'm dumb enough not to realize I can't get any of that money.

and Mark...if I can get the $4,500 I will be really happy, if I can't, then I will simply keep the car. I need to pay off this debt and I'm sick and tired as being broke as ****. and Yep, myspace has classifieds, actually got a couple hits already...idk well see.
