yea this is just a side note to those people who run premium non-FI


you are wasting your money, and seriously messing up your fuel trims everytime you go back and fourth.

Non-FI? cam/heads and sprayed cars need premium as well

I run strictly BP/Amaco 93 octane.

I used to run 87 before my tune and mods...and ran 87 a couple of times recently and noticed a tremendous drop in power and mpg.

With a full tank and a light foot, I can get 27ish mpg and alittle over 400 miles in a tank. With 87 it dropped to 24ish and couldn't even get close to 400 miles because she ran so sluggish I had to dip in to the throttle.

I run 93 all day...unless there's definate fact that I shouldn't...my experience proves that 93 is better than 87 on our modded cars and correctly tuned. If you're NA and stock, run 87.

right, but if you are talking cost efficency, why not have a 87 tune and a 93 tune?

that way you can save the 93 cost for the track

I always put 87 unless i am cleaning my fuel injector. When i am cleaning my injectors, i put in 93. I have always gotten at least 30+mpt (miles per tank) when using 87 than 93. Maybe 93 burns faster that's why i get less mpt. but i will say that when running 93, car accelerates faster/smoother.

running anything other than 87 or the lowest available to that point can cause driveability issues including knock and hard start. higher grade fuel is harder to burn, takes longer to burn, which lowers efficiency which equals less power. using higher grade fuel does not increase fuel economy or performance whats so ever.

serious mods and tuning only require and can properly use higher grade.

mods that consist mostly of higher compression ratios, correct?
i run 87. no mods, no need for extra expense. i got the v6 in favor of my previous v8s because of rising fuel costs. besides, i only ran 87 in my v8s because they were designed to be streetable (no more than 9.5:1 compression) and affordable, yest still delivering 300+ hp and 350+ ft lbs of torque reliably :D
i miss that torque :(

Well you can say what you want but I know from personal experince I run a bone stock 3.8 and if i run 87 I lose power and m.p.g. I run 93 and it runs like a sewing machine and gets 410 miles to a tank maybe my cars the only one that does that. And Idont get the 93 because I've plenty of money to throw around cauz I'm poor
