7% or higher huh? well seeing as how normal is 12-18% for our engine and anything over 30% requires service, kinda goofy.

rings have the gap for a reason. they need to be able to expand and contract.

i would imagine that the overlapping rings would expand and contract also. but i don't know. i figure instead of having a certain amount of space between each ends - - like so... im sure it just -_ overlaps. so one part would slide under the other part of the ring... correct? really i have no idea, haven't messed with rings yet. oh well, im sure somebody knows the answer=\...

          they look like this....

Thats how they over lap. Now those vs. new standard ones compession ratio I dont know. I was told by a ASE master tech who has takin all the ASE tests for ever feild that it raises it. Noticeably??? I doubt it. Now it wouldnt be from 9:1 to 10:1.

The total seal rings look like that or conventional? cause conventional doesn't look like that

It said NEWLY conventional installed rings have leak down figures of 7% or more. So...maybe its correct. 7% (and worse) compared to straight 2% (unchanging) sounds awesome
but yer right, sounds too good to be true

correct, the pressure is still able to get behind the (mostly compression) ring in-order to expand the ring and seal the pressure inside the bore
