Our cars arent that expensive. really they arent. they're slightly more expensive in terms of repair parts but dude... 3800's are a dime a dozen. i'd say at least 1/4 of gm vehicles come with it as an option. with there being so many of them, it's easy to find parts.
another thing, dude, im 20. i'm still workin my butt off to get myself thru school and putting little bits of money away so when i get out, i'll be able to do something nice with the motor... as much as we want, we cant always get what we want now (unless you're parents are willing to help you out...)

i guess the thing i dont wanna see happen is you sell your car, buy another cheaper car with higher milage and A. break it and have no money to fix it or B. the damn thing stays reletively stock. Either case, its better to have the camaro. i dont wanna see you go thru all that selling and buying and wind up worse off...
that makes the most sense out of anything ive read so far...one of the biggest problems is that my parents really dont want me tearing into my car either. ive got the money for a cam + nitrous setup but my parents dont want me putting nitrous through my car for some reason...(i think its cause no matter what i tell them they still think its gonna blow up like in the f&f). so i think ive come up with a reasonable solution that theyre accepting... im going to buy a 1992 camaro rs and end up dropping in a carbed 350 of some kind (i might do an ls1 if i can scrounge up some more money)... so i still have a camaro, have the torque ive been wanting, get to do a good amount of work on a car, have the body style i love, and best of all, i wont be a ricer :) (<--my parents were really afraid of this)

Reading your next post, looks like you have the resources to do what you want to, but you're too much of a chump to go thru with it.

so let me get this straight...you're gonna do an engine swap, but you can't handle working on a measly 3800? Oh, BTW, you'll never have all the power you want once you start modding a car...you always want more.

i never said i couldnt handle working on a 3800, im more than capable of working on it...the problem is that, this just isnt the car i want to work on...bottom line. i miss the sound, torque, and feel of a v8...and ive always liked the 3rd gen camaros. so why not mix them?i myself have never done an engine swap, but ive watched my dad do it numerous times so if i run into any problems hes always here to help.

Then why didn't you just say that from the beginning? Instead of spinning us this sob-story about "having such a nice car" and whatnot, you could of saved the forum alot of time just saying that from the get-go, rather than at the bottom of the second page of this thread

u know i got a better idea...how'bout u just make your v6 sound, feel and run like a v8? and mod it up! a guy named viper on this board has a bad *** v6 if u didnt know it was a 6 u would thought it was a z28 u can get all 3 quality's in ur v6 f-body as a v8 f-body...and why not be like me if u want a 3rd gen? save up and buy 1 and still mod ur 6 and work on ur 3rd gen...

                  Re: guess im nervous...

tell you the truth, it doesn't matter what car you go into modding out, it'll cost you. sure for hondas you can get an intake kit pretty cheap, but for our cars you can make one even cheaper. i've owned 3 rx7's up until this v6 beast of mine... echh, i mean chicken... anyways, i've put less money into modding my firebird v6 than any other car, but i've done more mods. and think of it this way, our v6's are putting out just as much hp as the old school big blocks did off the line. of course those big blocks had a lot more potential, and was obtainable at a lot less of a price. anyways, if you're wanting a project, it's not a bad project, and it comes with respect if you can make a v6 smoke a v8. that is my goal on my car, to smoke a v8 with my v6, might be a distance but it'll happen. just remember, a v8 you are just like most others... v6, you're stepping into a whole new world of being recognized. personally i say keep the car, and be unique. sale it, do a chevy 350 and be like the rest of the crowd.

Unless you can get one cylinder to fire twice at the same time, that ain't gonna happen

Whats the point tho? Theres nothing wrong with how a V6 sounds.

This is.. pretty literally, the exact situation I was in about a year ago.

Trust me.. **** changes when you turn 18.

I always was in the situation, where my mom, who knows nothing about cars other than those ****ing movies.. (fast and the furious ftl), would not let me touch the engine etc. I was making money because I had a job.. But yet, I was 16/17 and I couldn't buy stuff off the internet because I didn't have a checking account.

So basically I bought the only things I could.. clear corners, black out tint for tail lights, basically appearance stuff. I also did that free intake mod where you cut out the baffles and remove the silencer, and the free ram air with the hoses. I also bought an electric cutout that I welded on in my auto tech class.

Now that I am 18, I bought a set of spare heads, which by the way I am prepping in my school shop. I just bought new springs/retainers/valve locks, valves, push rods, etc. And I am going to port & polish the heads myself. Sure, I have never done it before, but with a lot of research and common sense, I'm pretty positive I can figure it out. I am also trying to get my hands on an upper/lower intake so I can do everything at my own pace and work on it out of the car since this is my DD. I will order the cam once I figure out what I want to do in the future.

Soon I will be able to afford some type of power adder but I haven't decided which route I am going to take.

TRUST ME.. keep the damn car. Don't mod it until you are able to/have the money/ability to buy things on your own.. You will thank me later.

Everyone says why don't you just get an LS1, and you know what, I thought about it.. And this is way cheaper. Why? The reason I have my car is because my step dad traded in his harley which he rode maybe 4 times over the course of a year.. There was about $3k left over. I helped pay the rest of that. So for me, I got this car for next to nothing. I can spend $5k in mods, be way faster than a stock LS1, and still be under the original price of a Z28, or even a marked up V6 camaro. So I will stick with the V6. I like the challenge.

Honestly I don't know why I'm telling you this, but I am just trying to get it across that you should keep your car. It's a nice car.. wait it out. I was in the same situation as you thats why I said all of this.
