  • Supra Help Please

Hey, I made a post the other day about getting a Supra for $300. Anyways, I go to check it out today and it gets spark just fine. I can smell gas under the hood so it's getting past the pump and filter. However, it cranks over but does not fire.

Does anyone know what this could tell me? Seems to be getting spark and gas...oil was free of coolant, although it looks like it had just been changed.

(I joined a Supra forum but they are really slow with the replies and I need to know ASAP...and they talk in Toyota jibberish, idk wtf there talking about)

if you have spark, you need to find out if fuel is getting into the combustion chamber. pull the plug if you can and see if fuel comes out... be careful and do not allow the spark around it.

Ok, I will try that tomorrow

          A. If fuel comes out this means....

          B. If fuel does not come out this means...

            Re: Supra Help Please

            A. it should go boom
            B. could have clogged injectors, injectors are not firing at all, clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump.

let me ask this, what kind of fuel system does it use? it doesn't have a carburetor does it? if so, I'm out

Nope it's def. some sort of fuel injection

I will hope fuel comes out, but then that would be puzzling if it's getting spark and fuel I'd have no idea what to do next...

unless if the timing is really bad?

The guy said everyonce and awhile it will fire up?!?

if you have spark and fuel you have ignition.....

only way you dont is if you have no compression what so ever, even at that point you still should get something.

pulling the pluds and smelling/looking for fuel is effective as Blldogg said, I doubt these cars have fuel rails with pressure check points (schreder valves), but that would help too

                      Re: Supra Help Please

Well I bought the car today.

I did a compression test and it tested fine...

However, I pulled the plug and cranked it and no fuel came out so it's not getting fuel after all...looks like I'll be tinkering with it for awhile.

I'm still not sure, but if the price is right, anything is for sale

I still have to get this heap running before I can do anything tho
