  • Man its really hard to find your perfect car...

I've been looking for the past few weeks for my hope-to-be future car. I'm looking for a 98+ 6spd Trans Am, but they seem to be very sparce in my area. I've searched cars.com, autotrader.com, and ebaymotors.com. The car needs to have T-tops, and under probably $16k. I know that is low, so I'm looking at high-milage LS1s. I really want black, but really any color will do. So far I've only found 3, but they are all 200+ miles away. I know it may be wishful thinking, but I'm lusting for the LS1. 2 of my buddies have 4.6L Mustangs, and I think its time I stepped up. There is no point in modding my current Firebird, because it has too many miles. So my hope is to get this Trans Am before fall semester starts, but my ultimate goal is by the time I get out of community college and go to RIT. I know patience is a virtue, but I'm only young for so long. Here are my choices so far, in case anyone is curious...

    2001 Black Pontiac Trans Am - $13,900

    1999 Pewter Pontiac Trans Am - $12,900

    2000 Black Pontiac Trans Am - $14,990

the second black one looks the nicest, but it also has the biggest price tag. Of the cars, i like the first one best because of the interior color, but with so many miles on it, i wouldn't know what to expect, and i probably wouldn't be prepared to spend that much on it, not knowing it's history. You might need to keep looking..

I'd say go with the last one. But according to KBB it's about 1k too high, that's assuming it's in perfect condition. See if you can't talk em down.

whatever you do, don't settle on a car that doesn't exactly fit what you want. You don't want to wake up every morning, look at your significant financial investment, and be like "Damn, I wish I woulda held out for [insert quality]."

I would say start email negotiations on the third one. If they can get to a price you are ok with make it a road trip. Road trips with a buddy to buy a car are fun.

Distance should not be a issue. Airplane is so cheap these days and with round trip, you can go anywhere. And there's this sponsor at ls1tech (http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=675567) can help you. I haven't used this guy but he should be good.or DAS transport.

I settled on my V6 and I regretted it so I made SURE I did not settle for ANYTHING when I got my Z28. I got everything I wanted right down to the color and I love it.

I've been Camaro shopping 3 times, and all 3 times I almost bought a fireturd/ta/WSpuke. I guess when I couldn't find what I wanted I just wanted a decent fbody, SO F*CKING GLAD I didn't settle for a p.o.n.t.i.a.c. and waited it out.
