  • Dont Pump Gas on May 15th!

Subject: FW: Do'nt Pump gas on May 15!

In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest
of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.
On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station
in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet
network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up. If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000, 000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies
pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on
May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day!!!!

If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldn't) resend to everyone and let the word out With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th

I'm going to say no, but I really don't know how this will work. The next day a lot more people would have too. This will cause a spike on demand which might spike up the price.

Calif. is still pay the highest. $3.50 for reg and $3.70 for supreme.

I think it's time we start building oil refineries. We haven't done so since 1971.

i hear about this all the time, and this isnt the first year people have tried to do this.. the problem is on this day noone will change there driving habits.. so the used up gas on that day will just carry over and double there profits on the next day... absolutely pointless..

companies will never see an impact from one day. I will buy as much gas as I can on that day just to screw with all the goofy people in the world.

The better plan is single out an individual company (like Shell or Exxon) and to boycott it for an extended period. Like a week or two. The company will have no choice but to lower prices to get people back to the pumps. The other companies would want to follow suit to avoid losing their customers. Then you boycott the next company. The rotating company boycott would work better lower the price over a longer period.

It wouldn't matter one way or the other. If you don't fill up on the 15th you'll need to fill up eventually. The execs at oil companies would see no impact and all their going to do on the 15th if sales are a little low are sit back in their fancy leather chairs and say "ok and your point is"

Don't know which is worse, the oil companies or these ideas that people email around. :twak:

Re: Dont Pump Gas on May 15th!

dont know what anybody else said really, but having everybody not buy gas on one day could cause the gas stations a loss of money, or not make their daily goal. from the money they didn't make that day, they will have to make up for the next day. they won't use their money from the day before, that's not proffiting, so they'll have to raise prices the next day. so for those of you who are going to go a day without gas, you're only telling them you want higher gas prices so they can pay their bills, and employees for that day.

this may not be the case, but from a business view that is how most business' handle things. so, i am going to get gas that day... why? because i get my license back the day before, and i will be doing a lot of driving the first few days...

Re: Dont Pump Gas on May 15th!

Not buying fuel is only gonna hurt the stations that are individually owned. They buy from the big companies.

Not buying gas for one day isn't gonna do crap...you'll buy on the 16th or 17th. Don't matter.

Targeting the Big Oil companies isn't gonna do crap either...they buy from foriegn sources because they can't drill in the US. Because we're dependant on foriegn oil for making our fuel foreign countries can jack the price around all they want and we still have to buy from them.

So at the end, where's the solution? Build our own facilities so we can drill for our own oil...period. Or not be dependant on fossil fuels...but that kind of technology isn't cheap...so whatever.

I understand your goal but how can boycotting affect prices if they are forced to out source their oil? You'll drive them out of business eventually forcing the sale of fuel at a lost and removing tons of jobs at the same time.

Don't quote the whole "RECORD PROFITS" that media reports...there's a difference between gross profits and net profits. They don't tell you that it's gross profits that the media is reporting.

                            1) this is retarded. as already stated, everyone will eventually buy gas. one day hurts nobody but yourself for running out of gas. :twak:
                            2) Gas prices are high because people pay it. supply and demand. as long as the market supports the prices, they will stay high. don't like the prices? Stop buying as much gas.
                            3) prices (for crude oil) are set on wall st. our drilling capacity, refinining capacity, etc only impact what people THINK will happen to prices.

I can see it is going to be a LONG summer. :twak:

I wish I could convert my car to run on chain mail and threads like this. I would never have to buy another drop of gas in my life!
