  • Not ready to switch to vista but like the looks?

Some of you know that I was thinking of putting vista on my desktop but I decided against it. I decided I was just gonna wait until I rebuild it to install vista.

However, I love the look of Vista Ultimates aero theme, so I did some searching...

Vista transformation pack 6 is what I found. Google it. Its great, it changes your icons, sound and themes to be like Vista. You can also get windowblinds to get the transparency effects, and there are other little 3rd party programs to get most of the effects that vista gives you. I remember way back when I had windows 98 there was an xp tranformation pack that I downloaded lol... how times change.

Just thought I'd share this with some of you who like the looks of Vista but don't have the money or a powerful enough computer.

Heres some screenshots of my computer now. (Keep in mind this is XP, just skinned)

Haha, things like this have been around for a long while. I can' think of the name or the website, but I know alienware's website used to have 3 free themes that you could download.

Yea, theres been a lot of these but this is the most functional one. All the other ones are older and don't have alot of the working features of vista. I've always had my computers skinned, usually with stylexp but since I got this its all i've been using.

It will also change your logon/logoff and shutdown screens to be like vista too, and has a vista bootscreen. I dont like the bootscreen that much but I haven't changed it yet.

I gotta agree with this guy,I got decent rig (I'm a gaming n3rd I guess) and I agree and a fellow co-worker agrees,as he had to purchase not only adapters to get his printer working but had to update his whole system (which wasnt that old to begin with, and I build pcs for fun/slight nerd lol). I do love XP though. (which aint that great but hey, every program/game works).

I didn't post this to be a debate between xp and vista. I just like the way Vista looks, and I will agree, as of right now xp is more usable. This is just a good way to get everything looking and feeling like vista, while still have xp as the OS.

I got a dell laptop and it came with vista for the first two months I hated it and almost put xp on it. It was a pain, wouldn't let me change boot screens or login screens, everything was "cancel or allow" I almost threw it out the window. But after digging around I found out how to make a true admin account like in xp now I love it and I will say it seems at first like its a resource hog but it actually does a great job of managing resources. check out neowin.net if you have vista the true admin account is a must. by the way nice job with your xp, it looks sweet.

i hate vista, I cant watch media player videos on the net, and my limewire will not connect no matter if my firewall is on or off.

Interesting. I did just the opposite. I changed XP to classic view so I didn't have to deal with all the colors and BS :p.
