So here's an odd story for you. I was sitting down to dinner tonight when I hear what sounds like partridge cawing outside. I go out on the back pool deck and its a tiny little frog perched up on the deck railing making all that noise. I couldn't believe such a little thing could make such a loud noise. Anyway I catch the little guy in a bucket and release him into the woods behind my house.
Not two seconds later I'm walking back to the house when I hear all kinds of squealing noises coming from the garage. I look inside and I can see something squirming. I flick the light switch and open the big door to let some light in and I see what appears to be a squirrel. It has fallen from the rafters (I can tell because there's a hole in the gyproc and there's fiberglass insulation all over the floor). The poor little guy had his neck wedged in between two peices of wood and couldn't get out. So I get one peice of wood loose and he kind flops free. I look up and see a racoon staring at me.
Anyway...long story short its a 1 week old baby racoon who fell from the ceiling and survived. We called the local animal control who brought a cage. We're now hoping the mom racoon will come down for the can of sardines in the cage and then we'll go up into the rafters to look for the rest of the babies. We were told there could be up to 5 or 6. We're going to release them back into the woods just like the frog and plug up the chimney hole in the garage (we never use the stove anyway). Although I'm hoping its more successful with the racoons as the frog made its way back to the fence within a couple hours.
