Plus with the cam, rockers, heads, torque converter, tranny. The drivability of the car would not be good. I am almost positive you would have been very satisfied with a stock engine running a turbo setup on 10-12 lbs of boost and you would have money left in the bank.
I agree, I would never again try throwing a car all of this at once.

      I want to do a head/cam/valvetrain build...

Since you did that early on, and had the same knowledge then as I have about now, would you recommend that? It seems like you got that stuff down pretty well without having done an build before...

        Re: Very Lenghty Project Write-Up

I read the whole thing, and not to be an *** kisser or anything but that was the best read that i have seen on this whole site. Probably because i can relate.. I never tore down an engine before and don't know that much about the internals, but one day i would like to do that. I know i don't want to do it all at once like someone said in an earlier post just do a little build up like you did before you got the L32. Its great to see someone that started out as a noob and did there research and did what they had to do to get it right. Seeing all the **** that you have been through i can see your situation now. I wonder what would have happened if u never tuned your shift points, you would have never blown it in the first place. Oh well you live and learn, props to you for getting as far as you did, technically you're there, its just not a DD now :)

This was definately a great project but you have to learn when to cut your losses. Up until a couple months ago, I was stoked to have this beast running to what it should be. Seeing problem after problem arise and us getting pissed off (yea I was pissed, you can ONLY imagine Dan and Tim because they worked on it ALL THE time whereas I spun a wrench here and there), it just isnt worth it anymore.

Money means nothing when you have a big ball of fire under your engine bay. The flames could explode from under the hood and burn the **** out of you. If things were meant to be, they were meant to be. In Dan's case, they werent. He will be safer (and my opinion, happier) in another car.

live and learn man, there are a ton of cars and owners out there in the same situation. I know a guy that had one hell of a vette built and threw a ton of mods at it but it never has run right since. Unfortunately he is a doctor and sometimes has more money than common sense. He had the car built by a fairly reputable shop but doesn't know enough about the car now to keep it running.

One thing people don't understand is that when you throw a bunch of mods at a car and take it that far away from stock stuff is gonig to break all the time. This is exactly why I stopped modding my car when I did.

A note to anyone out there if you are going to do some serious modding
              1. Get a AAA card you are going to need it at some point
              2. Get yourself a fairly dependable daily driver.
