so i just finish putting my rear brakes on last nite *new pads* and i'm cozyin' up in bed at the early hour of 3 o'clock. I'm just about to fall asleep when i hear "fffffffffzzzzzzzzz..... BANG" damn thing sounded like a gunshot coming from inside my room so needless to say my pants needed a change. at first i thought there was someone tryin to break into my apartment, but i could still hear bubbling sound.
For those of you who've forgotten, I brew my own beer. This last batch I cooked up I wanted to be high in alcohol and reasonably thin... a summer kinda beer, so I added about 2/3 lb of dry malt extract (read: 2/3 lb pure fermentable sugar). I forgot that the higher the potential alcohol content, the nastier the fermentation. I took the box off the primary fermenter that i'd just finished brewing yesterday and there was beer EVERYWHERE. The pressure built up so much that it literally shot the air lock clean off the top of the glass carboy. I fitted the air lock w/ a blowoff tube and put it in the bathroom to chill out... this morning half my bath tub was full of beer suds...
