    Re: Math homework help

    First one I came up with

    0= -21b^2 + 91b

    Just use quad formula to solve. I dont feel like doing it without my calculator here.

        Haven't done any serious math in years, but I'll give them a shot...

        40: 7. This one changed since you posted the picture.
        42: -2
        44: b = anything?
        46: Again, seems to be equal to anything
        48: This one is impossible
        50: Any number
        52: Any number
        54: c = 2.5(b-2)
        56: t = 2(5-3v)

                haha!!!

                i walked home, my mom had mine sitting on the table so i could sell it back ($120 text book)... i took it, threw it on the grill, it set on fire. she was like "WTF!!!" so i picked it off, and threw it into the pool. she was like "WTF???", so i fished it out, and threw it onto the roof. true story. i hated that thing with a passion.

                        quadratic is just /2(a)

                        x=-b+-(radical)(b^2-4(a)(c)
                        (all over)(2a)

                        if that makes sense. i sing it to the tune of pop goes the weasel.

                          wtf? quadratic formula? no. it's all the distributive property. i only read till like 46 but thats what they all look like to me.

                          a(b+c)=ab+ac or w/ numbers...
                          #40:
                          -1/3(4-b)=1/7b
                          -1/3*4+1/3*b=1/7b (multiply 1/3 by both 4 AND b, note that the sign changed for the b on the left side of the ='s sign)
                          -4/3+1/3b=1/7b (multiply 4 and -1/3)
                          -4/3=1/7b - 1/3b (reverse the sign to move the *b* values to the other side of the ='s sign)
                          combine the b values: -4/3 = 3/21b-7/21b=-4/21b
                          so we have -4/3=-4/21b
                          remember how we reversed the sign to move the b values across? thats because we were supposed to subtract, so we added to the other side. now, we're supposed to multiply the b by -4/21, so to get it that to the other side, we'll divide (which means we'll flip the fraction over... think of it this way, if you gotta move an addition to the other side, subtract from both sides. here, we need to move a multiplication to the other side, so we'll divide from both sides) so...
                          -4/3=-4/21b
                          -4/3*-21/4 = (-4/21)*b*(-21/4) (note that on the right side of the ='s sign, -21/4 * -4/21 = 1, so they cancel each other out, leaving you with b)
                          now we have: (-4/3)*(-21/4)=b
                          or 84/12 = b 84/12=7 so,
                          b=7

                          rinse, wash, repeat for the rest of 'em. i suggest writing that sequence down on a piece of paper b/c it looks really complicated when its done out on teh computer like this. it's much simpler if you can look at it on paper.

                            and all you guys talkin about the quadratic formula, take high school math again. the quadratic formula is only used on polynomials of the form x^2*a+xb+c. i didnt see anything like that in there. dont confuse the kid!
