My gf and I are going to visit her family in Sweden for 2 months (actually more like 73 days) and I'm leaving the Firebird behind, parked in the back of my mom's house. My question is this, should I expect battery problems when I come back or any type of electrical malfunctions since I'm leaving it parked for 2 months? I am planning on telling my mom to turn on the car every once in a while but is there anything I should expect when I come back? It won't be parked inside a garage but you better believe it will be under a cover.

Re: Leaving my firebird for 2 months.....
Personally, what I'd do is; give it a good waxing, top off the tank with high-grade fuel, and put 4 jackstands under the frame. Don't need to lift it off of the ground, but just enough to take some of the weight off of the tires. If it was only 2 months, then you should be safe leaving the battery connected. Any more and I'd say disconnect it.
It really isn't good starting a car for a few minutes and then turning it off. Condensation builds up in the exhaust and then sits there because it wasn't fully burned off. Rusting then soon follows.

Re: Leaving my firebird for 2 months.....
2 months should be no problems at all.
On a side note, my truck was sitting for 2 years. I just charged the battery, no gas, nada. For poops and laughter, tried to start it. The SOB started right up like it was nothing...surprised the hell out of me. I didn't expect it to just fire up.

Re: Leaving my firebird for 2 months.....
Thanks, I will give it a good waxing and leave it covered, along with the jacks that hockeyman suggested. My battery is brand new so I guess I won't worry about turning it on if I can just charge it if it dont start when I come back. Re: Leaving my firebird for 2 months.....
People leave summer cars parked in storage for a lot longer than 2 months during the winter. Don't worry, nothing bad will happen.Don\'t Ever Judge Me
\'96 Firebird Y87 3.8L V6 5spd
--No mods as of yet, shoot me some ideas if ya want.
178,000 miles and counting
