    Re: Why?

Nah. It's trash. If you have one, you should make a nice flower planter out of it. :twak:

I don't think anyone said that. I don't think anyone even HINTED at that. We were just giving reasons why we liked our V6s. You could have also said "so the space shuttle Atlantis isn't as reliable as a 3800?" because that would have made about as much sense.

No, I didnt say anyone said that...

I thought the LS1 was also reliable as hell (not to mention powerful :D ), so the 3800 doesn't have any significant advantage over the LS1 reliablility wise

u know another thing is u can use cheap gas...them lt1's, ls1's wont run well on anything but 93... maybe we dont get much better mpg but its cheaper for a full tank of gas...

That is not a big amount tho, 10cents for plus, 20cents for premium more...w/ 16 gallons is $3.20 more a fill-up

              Re: Why?

Price was the only reason I got a v6. I want an LS1 so bad, but 5k is a big difference for alot of people.

Which equates to 1mpg for comparitive terms. I don't know anyone who buys 16 gallons at a time for our cars either, I usually fill up between 12 and 14 gallons for a full tank, I don't like run the car on fumes. So really the difference is less than 1mpg equivalent between using premium for LS1's and regular for 3.8's.

Not ture. You are suppost to run premium in the motors but you don't have to.

Just add the Type R sticker and an aluminium lawn mower handle spoiler and you instantly add 1000 horses to ANY car. H3LL Y3AH BOYEEEE!

                            Re: Why?

the real question is, who the **** gets 17mpg in their v6 in the city?

I drive like an idiot and don't really focus on gas mileage and i don't even think I have gotten less then 20mpg, and I am talking city driving, NO highway.

thats like the fuel mileage of my 5.0, and believe me, the camaro does much better then the 3.8L in gas mileage.

honestly I think the v6 f-body would have been a relatively successful sports car if there was no v8. Performance wise it was very comparable to most HS kids sports cars. Just it was always looked at as a pos, just because its not "top of the line"

Its like those tools that say, I would never own a C5 unless it was a Z06. ITS NOT LIKE A REGULAR VETTE IS SLOW!

also price is a big difference... My 94 was $13k, new off the lot, and my 2k was $15k new off the lot.

I don't think any ls1s sold for less then 20k. Heck the ones I test drove and ****ed arond in(pissing off dealers) were like $35k.

doesn't matter how many cylinders you have. Its about compression, engine temps, and timing. My 5.0 runs on 87 just fine.

ls1s can run but its not reccomended and the computer cuts waaay back on the timing, killing hp. I believe Lt1s are the same.

Also little known fact alot of these "higher powered" import 4 and 6 bangers, require 93 octane as well.

Overall ls1s cost more, use 93 octane, gas mileage, isn't really that much worst, and in my opinion, they cost a hefty penny to maintain, more so then alot of average cars on the road.
