Smoke missed my point all togethter, I guess I started this.

Call me oold school, but there is a huge difference in a single purpose car and a street/strip car. I am more impressed with a car that is riding on stock-style suspension and can stop at any gas station yet run low double (or even single) digits. We all know what the 3.8 platform can do because of the GN predisesor. But even in the world of GN's do you think they compare a full drag car to the one that gets to the track under it's own power? This is a discussion that's been talked about for a long time, and people don't realize this is why you have different classes in racing.

Maybe Andrew is not the "record holder" anymore for the fastest v6 f-body, but the only one to beat him so far is a full out drag car. Not only that, but I'm sure if you dig, there were faster TTA's but the internet wasn't even invented yet for people to get exposure with.

I would not say any gas station, shell, chevyron, snoco. but mostly shell exits with a DQ on the way to the track work best  :D :D :D

and why not slip hairs? i mean every other plat form does it. what makes us/our motor so high and mighty?

the only reason I post my times is because everyone does. its the community thing. my goal is a 10.99 after i get then i'll probably drive out to Houston and have floys and dan help me install a 100 shot just to see what happens

you can search back 4 years of this board and my goal has alway been a 10.99. why should i put 50K into a car i can't drive to the track (3 hours one way) or 5 minutes to local sonic ???

As is mine ;). The difference is I want to do it with a 60* motor. Everyone dogged me in my circle for wanting a turbo, but now are impressed that I can beat a V8 with 189 cubes, no posi and and a 89k mile tranny.

Like I said, I was just using your car as an example. If it bothers you so much, just put anyone else's name that has a 3800 F-body in place of yours. My point remains valid because, like I said, the fact that your name was used is not really important since you don't really matter.

Yea, too bad the similarities between the 3800 in the F-bodies and the GN engine stop at their displacement

And my point is, if you're calling yourself the V6 Fbody record Holder, you better be the V6 f-body record holder...which Andrew is not.
The only way to take a record from someone who earned it legitimately is to break that record, and that's exactly what Tim did to Andrew. Not only did Tim break it, he blew the doors off Andrew's car.

Alright, so when i parade around calling myself the "The record holding Bright Silver Metallic 98+ V6 Pontiac F-body with GS stripes and a full cloth interior with functioning AC driven by a black guy on a friday in April 2007" I better not hear a peep out of you.

I see your point but you must consider that we all have different types of car.

Tim's car is tube frame and Andrew's car has been stripped. This has a lot to do with weight reduction and better handling.

If you look at Shirl's car--it's fully equiped just like the way you would buy it.

Others have a daily driven car which happens to be a weekend warrior. I have a Calif. smog legal car that's been SC to go fast but I use it more for commuting and not for racing.

But time is time and major kudos goes to Tim.

...Which is something some people are forgetting...records don't go to who everyone feels deserves it, it goes to whomever takes it. Tim took it, and it's his now.

maybe it should be the one with 40/60 mix of coolant too???

there are basic records even in the V8 and car world as a hole, and they always follow plat form and steps in the motor, stock, cam only, heads only (lol), modified, fastest FI fastest NA etc etc etc

if that was the case then non of the LS1 mean **** because they have ran 4's with that block but they are still a record.....

and who told you mine wasn't?

someone please tell me where your getting all this mis information

my car had the spare tire in it when i ran my 11.78 (and my 7.39 1/8 mile and all the other runs i have had) and it is not striped... if anything it is more heavy then it was from the factory because of the roll bar, turbo kit. and auto tranny plus the UMI TQ arm is heavy as hell, not counting all the gauges and lap top.

I don't know who is saying that my car is stripped but it was not. in fact i didn't even have skinnies on it. witch you can clearly see in the video

the only interior peaces not in the car are the back seats because you can't get it in with the roll bar in the way and the plastic panels on the hatch because they was vibrating and pissed my off so they got tossed.

this car will be the same when i run my 10.99, only skinnies and larger DR's will change, i will not strip the car until i meet that goal..... after that i don't know i really like to drive the car to work every day if i want. so it will stay but some stuff will change

plus it gets better MPG then the S-10 lol

I'm well aware of that, but "Fastest Street car"? What defines a "street" car? All the other classes (Stock internal, Full bolt on, cam-only, NA, FI) are clear, easy to define, and hard to dispute. However, defining "street" is a slippery notion, hence my exaggeration. If you have a drag strip basically in your back yard, a trailor-queen could become a street car. If you don't mind spending a fortune on high octane race gas getting to the track, a trailor queen could become a street car. If you don't care about getting pulled by every cop you see on the road, a 1000 HP outlaw car could be a street car.

that car is not legal to drive on the roads, no lights, wheelie bar, chute, no wipers, Slicks

is is not street legal, it is classified as an off road vehicle

                            in the owners own words:
