I live in Northern Ca., and the cops are not strict at all. It could just be that I am a teacher in a very small town, but I have had my cutout open for 3 months now, and have never even been looked at. One of our cops came over to me one day and told me about his trans am; he said he drives around with his cut out as well. When I lived in So Cal. it was much diffrent In Huntington Beach there is anti crusing laws; the cops will ticket you if you pass by the same spot 3 times in 1 hour. It is nice to live in a small town, but I am 100% against racing in the street.

Thats total BS, if its true, they cant just take someones car away for just looking like it "street races". I'm glad I dont live in CA or canada.
Pretty soon we will all be driving around in small cars like they have in some places in Europe that dont have enough power to get up a hill.

Yeah, they had been saying that for awhile now, im from california originally, and everyone would say oh kristen you better not race your car if you dont want it to get crushed.

On the news they reported that officers are going through special training sessions to be able to recognize a modified car, because most people who modify their cars want to go faster. While that is true to some extent i dont think it means that everyone who modifies their cars will street race and be recklass! besides imo i like the track better! :)

Exactley why crushing cars suspected of street racing is ridiculous. What about cars built to go to the track, road race, or auto-x? Those cars are modified for the purpose of legal auto sports.

I'm sure it's like this other place too, but in VA most cops rarely bother modified domestics. They jump all over modified imports though. I was pulled over when I borrowed my Mom's Miata because the cop could hear me comming. He didn't write me a ticket because he didn't use radar he just assumed I was driving too fast because the car has an exhaust system.

Maybe that car should be smashed since it is setup to run in the stock class for auto-x. I mean clearly a Miata with tires and an exhaust is a street racing machine.

Crush my car and I'd sue the crap out of them... If this is the case then lets cut up everyone's License who been caught DUI... Instead they get a warning or a huge fine... this is rediculous.

You play, you pay. As mentioned these guys are not victims because they got caught with stolen goods, or racing on the street. The article also states that they are racing on residential roads! With four children, the cops would be the least of their worries if this was going on in front of my house.
