well i didnt sign for the payments my aunt did, and even if i asked her to let me pay it, she would not have any of it. I pay for my rent, insurance, food, cell phone, 3 credit cards, my dell laptop, now my cobra, the 10's of thousands that went into the camaro, i can take plenty of pride in all of that right there

you do know normal people pay for all of that, except they don't get a free car, its not an amazing accomplishment. Some people actually even call it... being an adult.

His aunt did something nice for him because she wanted to. It's not like he is some spoiled brat over at his aunt house demanding a camaro. Stop being jealous that he got a nice gift.

so when the parts that i paid for on the car equal 3 times what people pay for there car alone does that make me more adult?

cause aparently in your eyes, spending money and paying bills = adult.

                  Its the exact opposite...

An adult woudl do something like pay off a car themself... BEFORE they buy mods 10 times the value of the car over... If you spent $500 billion dollars on mods for the car, I still would have said should have paid it off first. But instead your aunt was paying it. To be honest the more money you spend on stuff that is considered "frivolous" the worse I think it is, you didn't pay off the car... And mods/03 cobra is seen as frivolous.

Adults pay off their important bills before they go out and spend alot of money on toys... Especially if a relative was making the payments. That is what I am getting at.

Its more about taking care of responsiblilities, especially ones that are a burden on others. Even if its not that big of a burden. Its still a burden. I understand that if money was tight, its not that bad of an idea to have a relative help out. But jesus, you spent money, tons of money on mods, then on another nice car.

If I was in a situation like yours, I would have paid the car myself. Just saying, maybe my view is wrong. Not trying to make a big deal out of it, but you just keep missing the point.

I didnt miss the point because I clearly stated way back, "even if I tried to make payments on the car, my aunt would have none of it." I will say again, my aunt is well off, my uncle is well off. They have no children and will not have any children. They FULLY OWN a luxurious home, cars, etc. She wanted to buy this car for me, and she chose to take out a loan under my name to help me establish credit at a young age. I am very greatful to her for all of this, and it shows. But in no way do i feel less proud of myself or the car, cause its not always about the money you put into it, its your own hours, which like i have said before i spent hundereds .

also if you will notice in my first post, the agreement waas she would pay for the car now, and I would pey her back after school. So the fact that teh car is now a gift suddenly makes everything I did before hand childish and un-adult like? I just dont follow.

im 17, my parents bought mine, it will be paid off quite soon (2002), and i pay for everything i do to it. all they care about is that i take my TIME and money to keep the car in peak condition, they tell me all the time, all we care is that you take care of it and keep it in good condition, thats how i show my responsibilty, so let off him, congrats man.

there is a difference you are 17.... My parents did the same for me for my first car. Mine wasn't as nice as a 5 year old Camaro. But still a nice camaro in good shape. You probably coulnd't comfortably afford the car on your own.

this guy has a $20-25k 03 cobra, and talks how he has spent Thousands upon thousands on the car.

So your aunt expects you to pay her back? thats even worse imo... she probably was doing it to help you out through college, but form the looks you really don't need help, but are still taking it.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills, because it seems like I am the only one this woudl bother?

                                I've bought/repaired/modded every car I've ever owned since 16...

but who really cares... It's a sweet birthday present, everyone is different and has different beliefs and ****...I can see since he's in college and doing something productive with his life that maybe he deserves it...
