ok , i'm wrong . but i do know that the motor is pushed back into the engine bay way far to get it that 50 /50 ratio . i geuss thats why i think it's a mid engine car .
I think the term you were looking for is "front engine mid-ship layout". That's the principle used to shove the engine as far back as possible for better weight distribution. The 350Z's layout is like that, but its weight distribution is not 50/50. They gave it a 53/47 distribution on purpose to help with accelerating out of corners I believe. Not exactly sure if that worked out for them.
