Any computer gurus in here??

My comp is having a hard time booting up. Somtimes I get the blue screen of death saying its taking a physical dump other times it boots up for 20 min then crashes to it. My system restore says somthing like system32\security\
hive file missing or currupted.
I need to find a boot disk I can burn to a cd to boot up. I have downloaded some and burned them but either Im doing somthing wrong or they are not working. Im a newb at this so go easy on me.

It stays booted for 20 minutes, or it take 20 minutes to boot?

well for starters you need to make note of the exact error message and then google it and parts of it in quotes ""

You may find it to be easier to start fresh with a new windows installation, or upgrade to linux if you are not too in to gaming. Ubuntu is a pretty good distro, easy to install/use and a wide user base for online support www.ubuntu.com

If you are not computer savvy, I would not recommend Linux. you need a PhD in computer science just to set up a printer (CUPS, FTL)

Am I correct in assuming you are running Windows XP? Write down the EXACT error message and go to Microsoft's Knowledge Base and do a search.

Sounds like you may have either a bad memory chip (RAM) or hard drive problems. Post what you come up with and I'll try to help you further.
