thought I'd throw this out to our little community, due to ALOT of traveling over the last year and a half I have accumilated a ton mariott points, actually it was more than that but I used 20,000 during the wedding to put up some family memebers.
Anyway I'm looking and just to give you an idea of the value of these things I could stay at a mariott in hawaii for FREE for like 6 days. Using them for multiple day stays gives you the most value for the money.

Anyway a couple of weeks ago I get a catalog of other stuff you can use your points on so I get online and start looking. Well unfortunately there are no decent sized flat screen TV's (I want a 50"+ plasma samsung really bad) that are in my points range but what they do have is an X-box 360 elite (or premium or something like that) I could get and just pay the shipping. Other than that there really isn't anything else on there and this would prettymuch zero out my point balance but to be honest I hardly ever get to use them anyway. So my question is what would you do.

take the free xbox
or
keep the points in hopes I could use them for some time off in the future

hmmmm....6days in paradise or a gaming system you can find for around $300? I'd say keep em man.

I'd take the vacation too. Also if you are thinking about getting a 360 it's probably worth it to wait for a model with the new chipset that just came out.

Take the vacation if you need one... if not then save up some cash, take a vacation next year and go all out with the money you saved for it.

take the vacation, but make sure you bring a bunch your wildest, most obnoxious party animal friends and make a spring break to remember out of it. Relaxing vacations never work b/c all you wind up thinking about is all the stuff you have to do when you get back and you wind up more stressed out afterwards. You're much better off goin out and raising hell and coming back with stories that you wouldnt tell your grandkids... it'll be more memorable that way.

I say you do enough traveling and probably have been there already.. Get the 360.. Elite's are 469.00 and the premuims are 399.99

x2... Samsung does have one of the best pictures though, I will agree with you there. But definitally go lcd over plasma, unless your using it in a low light rooms specifically for movies/sports. Plus plasma's suck up more power..
