Re: waxing...
usually takes me 2 or 2 and a half hours.
rinse, soap, rinse, dry, claybar some spots, wax, wax the wheels, and i clean my windows and the dash, and vaccuum the inside. thats what i consider a wax anyway.1998 bright red camaro ,M5 ,Y87 ,stock

Originally posted by Rune:
If it smells like a turd and looks like a turd, chances are its probably not a candy bar.

Re: waxing...
If you're going to spend 5 hours washing, waxing, and detailing, that actually makes sense. I used to spend two whole days cleaning the interior of my Maro, which included removing the seats to use a Bissel on them. But two hours waxing? Eh...if it takes you that long, you need an orbital buffer. NOT A CIRCULAR, and orbital.1995 Pontiac Firebird

Guys, wax doesnt CLEAN your paint, POLISH does... You really should polish it before you wax it... This will get out all of your waterspots that you left from washing, and help with the little scratches... Most polishes really bring out a good shine in your paint. Follow that up with a coat of wax to seal it in and protect it.
Its good that you guys wax, because that is protecting your paint, but if you really want it to look good at least use one type of polish prior to waxing.

Re: waxing...
I used to have an orbital buffer, but just picked up a porter cable knock off... It was 30 bucks at harbour freight and seems to be pretty decent.
Your right hokie bird, some waxes will do that, but I still believe that everyone should try adding polish into their detailing list. It always gets stuff off that didnt come off in the washing stage (Dirt that you cant even see, that wont come out just by washing). Usually if you claybar, that should get all the dirt off, but even then you should polish just to clean up the marring left over by the claybar.
