Re: Considering a Trade for a Ferrarri

I wouldn't trade the Camaro for the Testarossa unless your plan was to sell the Testarossa for minimal profit in a few years time and not drive it. You will most likely be losing money on this deal if you plan on driving it. If you have $4-5k spare cash for yearly upkeep and can cover insurance (you better be older than 30!) then go for it...

I'd never want to own a Ferrari; would never turn down the chance to drive one but as for keeping one up - I'd let the owner spend the endless money to keep them going! Ferraris are like highend power boats....

        I understand. ;)

Ok, so I found some wheels for it already. Probably cost as much as the car.

Holy ****! An exhaust costs about $3,000! Let me re-phrase that: Just the muffler!

I smell something fishy. Shirl, I am not bashing your car in any way but who in the right mind would trade a Ferrari for a v6 camaro. Even if it runs 10s but at the end of the day it's still is a v6 camaro. I would say be very careful buying that car. Make sure it's got all the documentation saying that it's his car and he has the right to sell it. Again you should also keep in mind about parking it at random place because it'll tend to attract more car thiefs than your camaro.

I have to go with him on this. If he has the money to have the ferrari and all those other collector cars, why couldnt he just build a v6 Camaro with double the horsepower you have? I'd have a mechanic check that thing over before you even decide anything further. Honestly, if everything was ok with the car and you do trade cars...I'd just turn right around and sell it and get an easier to maintain classic car? Hell sell it and get a '69 Z28

You say he wants a convertable instead...so why would he want your 96?

In all honesty, if someone were to offer me a Ferrari for my camaro today, I would trade it, sell it, and get another camaro and use the extra money to build it up. But that's because I haven't put much money into my car. Had I put an equal amount into the car, I would just turn down the trade. Personally the Testorosa just doesn't do it for me, but onto of that, the maintainance costs just wouldn't be worth it to me.

It's probably a Fiero with an ugly body kit

If you do get a Testarossa and you put those wheels on it I'll drive up to NJ and put it on blocks. It's a classic car with factory styling like nothing else. It doesn't need outrageous wheels to make it stand out.

ya please tell me the wheels thing was a joke....

like i said...the ferrari is a piece of history whereas the camaro you have now is a dime a dozen. just remember...

if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

This person has A LOT of money and does not know much about cars. He's the 2nd owner. He said he was looking for a convertible but he is the type that has money to throw around with no issues whatsover. He has at least 10 cars in storage. I'm going to try and see him today or tomorrow, if the weather is decent.
