Hey, I just joined, this site is pretty cool. I'm glad I found a place where I can enjoy the company and advice of other v6 f-body owners and not get the timeless suggestion of "buy a v8." Im a 17 year old senior in high school, i can't just go buy a v8. Although I wish i could.

Anyway, I'm just rambling. Now to why I'm really here, my car. It's a 1998 Firebird. It's painted in Dark Metallica Blue and has an auto transmission. It's pretty much stock, as far as i can tell. My dad bought it for me back in early June as a replacement for my (his old) aging 88 mazda (262k miles woo). The bird had 45k miles on it when i got it, and it has no body damage of any kind. No scratches, dents, nothing. It's quite a sight. My dad owned a 71 cuda back in college, and so he makes sure that i take good care (washing, waxing, washing, vaccuuming, washing) of my first fast car. I hope it lasts me well into my midlife crisis.

Right now, I'm in the process of saving money for a dual exhaust system. I was thinking of a flowmaster american thunder exhaust system (it fits my budget pretty well), but if anyone has any better ideas, let me know. I hope to invest in a ram air hood in the future also. Anyway, here's the Blue Demon, as I have come to call it. That's me in the last picture. Haha, look at how happy I look to be driving that beauty.

Clean ride. Welcome to the forum :wavey: . What kind of rims are those? They look really good on the car. Flowmaster is a good choice. It'll give you most bang for your buck. Since you are on the budget, I can't really suggest any mods. Just keep it clean.

                    Re: New

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! and schlotzky, yeah they're eagle rims. i guess you could call me a rich kid. Kinda. i live in a pretty big house, only child, yada yada. but at least my dad didnt buy me a bmw or mercedes like every other dad in this neighborhood does. Instead, i got a piece of american muscle, which i would take anyday over those european cars. And believe it or not, I'm really not that spoiled or anything. My dad bought the car, and I have to pay insurance and all that stuff. The usual way i go anywhere in this car is with the tops off and the heavy metal blasting from the speakers. I remember i went to my girlfriend's prom (she goes to a private school) and afterwards, when we drove back to the school to take the bus to the afterparty, i figured I'd see camaros, mustangs, that kinda stuff in the parking lot. All i saw were land rovers and bmw's. Everyone was looking at my car. i felt like the cat's tuxedo. or however that saying goes.

what I'm trying to say in all of this is that while i do live in an upscale neighborhood and all that privileged stuff, my attitude's not like that and im glad it's not.

                      Re: New

I've realized everything i've payed for has made me respect my car more than my friends. That is a very sharp firebird and you will find tons of information on here. Keep it clean and you'll be fine. I get more looks in the firebird then my buddy does in his landrover... if anything he gets looks of "spoiled rotten punk"

as far as exhaust... imo magnaflow would be your best bet... even though I have a flowmaster (got a good deal on it) and love it.

Welcome aboard! Please, Please don't start another exhaust battle on what he should get...there are so many different threads out there on that. Just get something with 2 tailpipes and call it that. As far as I can see that is an awesome car you got there, very sharp.

                          x2 to that.

Paying for insurance should help with that a bit. Just make sure you respect that bird treat it like it's yours and you should be set:tup:
