Hate to say this, but I need more power

OK. A while ago I posted about possibly getting a 97 LT1 'Vert. Well, we bought it, however it's my parents' "weekend warrior." They said I can't use it as a DD because they want to keep the miles down on it. I asked them why do I drive mine then, I should keep the miles down on it, and they said that wasn't gong to be my car forever. What's that sound like to you guys?

Anyways, I want this LT1 badly. We got it for dirt cheap ($2K, with 79K on a non-running LT1), but have to invest in it to repair the motor. So, how can I talk them into letting me have it? I've told them that I would never be satisfied with what my V6 makes, so I'm going to keep modding it, whereas the LT1 is about what I want and an exhaust and intake will make me a very happy kid :D What else could I do to raise my chances of getting the LT1?


And I know, it's not a V6, I'm sorry :(

Yeah, start saving. There will be better cars than that by the time you save some $$. New Camaro... maybe. Or in the meantime, you could add a nitrous kit to yours and have fun when you want. If you're only looking for power, the vert is probably not much faster than your car. You said you're running a high 14? The vert is probably around mid 14's due to the extra weight. The other thing you could possibly do, is, trade your car for an older LT1 if you want one that badly. There is always going to be someone faster than you though when it comes to street cars. Look at all of the cars that are making massive power these days. If that's what's really important to you, start saving for something really special.

i was going to do a ls1 swap in my car and did the numbers and its really just cheaper to buy a car that is already a V8 instead of trying to do swaps

Well, since the engine's blown, when we (yes, WE, as in I my dad and I, so I should get to drive it some since I have to work on it) rebuild it, we'll be swapping in a mild cam, throwing on a set of longtubes, cat-back exhaust, TB spacer, and CAI. Or so I've been told. As for gas, I do all highway driving. IIRC, ~23 miles on highway, then ~3 city miles to the school. My work's basically the same, 10 highway miles, then 1.5 city. So, I don't think it'll be bad at all on gas.

Or in the meantime, you could add a nitrous kit to yours and have fun when you want.

Currently in the works :D, but my parents are hating it and saying I'm going to blow the car up. Plus, I still want to go faster :P
