SO i bought my 1996 firebird on june 15 at a dealer for 2900 this year...No problems but when we saw the car it had a strange smell...I just thought it was the new tires but it wasn't.. The car rode awesome so We really couldn't tell if anything was wrong with the car....Then a month later my car had a major leaking and it cost me 500 dollars to fix and im 16 by the way so money doesn't come easy..Then the next month after that I had a ticking noise that wasnt realy loud and went away the next day.. But yeasterday it just got bad, my oil dropped and when u would rev the car it would just tick really loud and fast.. I took it to a mechanic at gm express he said i need a new engine.. I was like fuuuuuuuuuuukkkkkkkkkk!!!This is my first car and i have super bad luck. So now i need to buy an engine at trans am creations for 550.. A 3.8 again but with 30k miles on it...Its gonna cost me another 500 to get it installed..This suks because this is my first car and i dont get my licence till 28 of september.... Freaking dealers made the engine look immaculate. Now im never buying a used car from a dealer!! Fuk my car has been a disaster so far and i badly want to get out of the bus and drive my car to skool and work!!

Re: Looks like i got scammed on my car!!!
dealers make everything look like it's in excellent condition...engine bays are always spotless but it doesn't matter how an engine looks, it's the insides that count...
same thing happend to a friend who bought from a dealer...i never buy my cars at dealers1999 Camaro Z/28

depends on what state you are buying from. I know in Ga nad California they have the lemon law but speaking for states OTHER than these two, I have no clue. I would imagine it is a federaly regulated law.

yeah man thats a hard lesson learned, the next time you want to buy a car from a private owner or a dealer, take the car before you buy it and take it to a mechanic and have them look it over, they usually will do it for 50-100 dollars, and thats alot, but its a small price to pay when it comes to failures like the car you just bought...hopefully this new engine will be nice and sexy for you1999 White Pontiac

Re: Looks like i got scammed on my car!!!
When I bought my first car from a dealer, a 1985 Berlinetta-Camaro, I needed to replace everything but the engine. The dealer was an old man. He was telling me how it was his wife's car and whatnot. I was blind and weak, and I fell for it.

Seriously that sucks but just think by the time your driving it will practically be a new car, hoping nothing else goes wrong of course.Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.

1. disconnect anything thats touching the engine, and drain all the fluids
2. gently hoist it out
3. gently lower the new one in
4. reconnect everything the way you found it in reverse order (you can even take notes if you want to!) just label all the bolts that come off...
thats all there really is to it...
or find someone around to help you. there's probably an f-body club around you and you could post up on their board "hey, i'll pay 150 bucks and a case of beer to whoever wants to help me swap a motor" done deal
also, i know there are some places that you can actually send samples of your oil to, and they analyze it for like 50 bucks and tell you everything they found... like excessive carbon could mean you're getting blowby and the engine is showing its age, or theres coolant in there... etc. etc.... a ton you can find out.. just an idea for later2000 3.8L Camaro A4 Pewter Y87<br />K&N Filter, SLP Ram Air kit, Eibach Pro Kit, Flowmaster 80 series, Silverstars, NGK plugs and MSD Super Conductor Wires, Electric Water Pump

Re: Looks like i got scammed on my car!!!
Dang dude, I know hot it is to have money hard to come by and then the mess breaks on you and your like ''What the world, I just bought this!!'' ........ I'm sort of in that situation (not as drastic) I need to fix some inor thing on the interior of my '95 Camaro.
The driver side window doesnt work
I have no fog light switch
I need two front door speakers
New Stereo
New hinges for the center console
and when I put the car in gear, the little plate thing that tells you what gear your in, like drive or park, pops up LOL Need a way to keep that in place
and the most expensive piece of all and also the most valuable piece to me is the hand controls lol so ....... yeah I feel your pain with the money situation
