I would trade my V6 camaro for a S2000 any day, any time. But any of their(Honda)other products, hmmm -- I don't know..... But I don't think they make bad cars. They make slow cars but that's not a reason to bash a car company.
Honda has no control over their vehicles that turn into rice. It's the drivers (ricers) that turn a car into rice.
There's nothing wrong with a honda. I used to have one, I just wanted something a little faster and with less miles. In the end it's all just metal, an engine and a seat and a few other pieces I left out.
Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.
I was about to get an Integra GSR before I got my Camaro. They're respectable cars when done right. My deal was all go no show, mostly stock or factory (Type-R) bodywork, only changes would be lowered and lightweight wheels. The 1.8 litre in those cars (B18C1) pumps 180 crank HP... that's almost as much as our L36s with 2 litres less engine. Maybe they're not the fastest in a straight line, but they sure can be quick.
Laugh all you want, but when a properly modified EK or DC5 with a good driver comes up against you in auto-x or road racing you are going to get embarrassed.
"Hating" honda's is more of an emotional response than rational thought process. Or people are plain ignorant and have no idea how much potential a FWD Integra has when it comes to cornering...
That can be said for more than honda's. You see the same thing with how people are about ford or dodge. Seriously it's just a car.

You can make anything fast respectfully... its just the fact that people have to put double the money we put into our cars just to get their honda even semi close to us.
i never said i "hated" hondas. its just that 1.8 is just so damn small! not to mention the annoying pitch those cars put out, 4 cylinders just dont sound good. sure you can get 650hp out of one...but thats probably with twin turbos running ungodly psi, nitrous, the works. and you cant tell me that FWD is superior to RWD weight transfer. if i could have a V8 T/A right now i would, but i am no where close to being able to afford one. thats where i stand
Were you riding on I4 last night? I got out of school and was driving home around 12:15 am getting on at John Young. All I saw was a single headlight and all I heard was an almost unrestricted exhaust rip past me going at least 130. Was kinda cool, gave chills to hear that thing rip past, couldn't make out the bike though, it was a blur.
Correction: Just remembered your in Chi-town now aren't you?

i dont belive the money fact is true.... cuase an average f-body is around 7-10grand used of course.
u can get a honda for like 2 grand and spend the rest on mods....so not only are u gettting a car, you have enough money for some heavy mods.
Honda is a terrific OEM. they make great little motors (i'm still kinda pissed that they just dont make a v-8 for their ridgeline tho) the s2000 is an impressive engine, and they make great bikes...
but that said, i guess it kind of all comes down to pedigree. Have a chick look at an f-body vs. a civic or integra and ask her which one would go faster. f-bodies, mustangs, vettes... they're all kinda DESIGNED to go fast... you're just helping it accomplish that purpose. Hondas are designed to be cheap and easy on gas, and you're trying to do exactly the opposite with them when you modify them.
I mean, dont get me wrong, its impressive as hell when you can take a little 1.7L I4 and somehow wring 700HP out of it. thats badass. but its still kind of a one-off thing. In my head, its kind of like a joke... or a gimmick. its like if I saw a magic trick. like, hey that was pretty cool, but i'm still not that interested.
When i say i hate Honda's or ricers... its more the little crowd of people that crown the cars as the fastest damn things ever built. they're not. Tuners worked on those little motors as a challenge. again, 700hp is pretty impressive. then the 16 year old kids saw that, said "hey i can do that!!1!" and they throw a wing on it, an unpainted body kit and they paint thier hood black and a few will actually strap on a NOS system (w/o tuning them) and call themselves badasses. it doesnt work like that. theres alot of time, money and research that goes into making those things respectably fast, and most of them dont do that. they just throw some body parts on or juryrig some performance mods and then get this attitude towards everyone else on the road. Nothing makes me happier than taking them down a peg.
I guess its just the ego that those guys have that gets to me cuz i'm a humble guy and when people start talking crap at me just cuz of my car i dont like it.

I love Hondas... I wish I had a nice little civic to get back and forth to work in everyday. :D
I have seen some pretty quick hondas, but most of them are stripped to the bone. That is just gay on so many levels. Safety, looks, sound, comfort, etc.
I have yet to see a full weight honda run anything close to a spectacular time in person. FWD is crappy for road racing, so thats why I don't want one.
A friend of mine had a supercharged s2k. I wasnt as impressed as I thought I would be, but it was a nice car and handled well.

when i was 15, i was politely shot down by a chick in a civic. that planted the seed.. then a subculture of supreme lameness grew around civics and my position against hondas became quite firm.
granted, a few generations of the honda prelude caught my attention, but i vowed to never own a honda.

Just IMO though.
well my 80 malibu cost 3500 and a 350 swap with everything was less than 4 grand... i'm over 350 horses and 410lb all for less than 10k. You find me a honda that you can get for 2k, put in 6k and it run as good as my malibu ******** and last as long!!!
and i noticed i was quoted above... seems like you guys thought i was supporting hondas ... Didn't I state that its stupid to put so much cash into something thats so slow
