The best I've gotten is about 28 or 29 and that's tucked in behind a semi at highway speed.

32mpg all highway at 73mph. Mostly uphill, and cruise set. RPMs were around 2300-2400. Auto with 3.42s. I'd believe she could manage 37 with the cruise set in a manual with 3.23s or 3.08s, everybody's car runs different.

get a 5spd saturn coupe. My budy has one as his beater. Car gets like 40 miles gallon and was just about as fast as my 3.8 when it was stock.
He never changes the oil in the thing and i swear that will last for ever

if you want MPG, get a hybrid. otherwise have some fun with the good 'ol F-body, decent gas mileage and a reliable engine.

getting a hybrid, you just pay for the gas you save up front...

my recommendation for a good, reliable car? A chevy prism/toyota corolla. the things have less power than Belgium but they are wonderful on gas and i daresay the 1.7L is pretty damn robust (not as tough as a 3800 but still...) i've seen them climb to 200k relatively regularly back when i worked at a tire shop...

and 37 kristen? sorry but i've done the whole 65 mph thing b4.. the best I've EVER gotten was 33 and that was only for a short strech back when i first bought it.

Quoted For The Mo**erF*cking Truth! It's a big scam. I would only buy a Hybrid because of the environment (less emission).

Honda civic coupes are great 4 banger or even an accord 4 door.

many studies have found that you need to drive an insane amount of miles for the gas savings to equal the increase in price in the car. Also, the stated savings are in ideal hybrid conditions (heavy stop & go traffic); otherwise, their gas mileage is only slightly better than other small engine cars.

As far as recommending a 4-bang. I can get almost 30 MPG out of my Jetta 2.0 (not the 1.8T) if I don't drive like me.
