Calc 3 isn't bad, it is just applying what you're learned in Calc 1 to multiple dimensions. It really helps solidify your Calc 1 knowledge as well.

calc 1 wasnt so much a problem as calc 2 was. infinite series was and is the bane of my existance

            Re: College Algebra and functions

I hated calc 2. I took it online, and barely got by with the C that I needed. Calc 1 I got an A, much easier... now I'm in Differential Equations, which is just using calc 2 knowledge in equations.

I would probably do better if I did a little more work at my apartment, buts its more fun to drink with friends...

slamming my car door repeatedly on my crotch, gargeling sulpheric acid and listening to Gwen Stephanie would be more fun than taking calc 2 for a third time

That's your problem. Classes like calc 2 , you shouldn't take online. I got A on calc 1 and b on calc 2. I love math. I can do math all day without a problem. My 4 favorite things in the world are Math, Camaros, Boobies and Food ;)

Holy hell, next step is to just kill yourself!

I tested in Prealgebra! HAhA Go me! But sadly no credits for this class :(
But hey it will help the GPA :)

It is easy.... Its hard to believe I took algebra in Middle school.

I really had no choice. I signed up for my classes early, and then they cancelled my first calc 2 class. Then I signed up for another calc 2 class, and they cancelled that one too. So my only option was to take it online, all other classes were either full or during one of my core engineering classes. It sucked, but I got by...

                          Re: College Algebra and functions

I got a B in Calc 1 and As in the rest (up to and including diff EQ).

Differential Equations was the best, I thought it was easy, and later it is used in things like Fluid Mechanics.

Just when I thought I was done with math, it sprung up with disguised names like "Engineering Analysis."

It only gets worse if you don't know the basics!

see, if i can visualize it, it makes perfect sense.... trig sucked for me until i actually started applying it at my job and now its so easy its stupid. I'm sure once i understand how calc 2 fits into everything it'll be gravy. I just dont understand how the second integral of sin(x)/(sinxcosx) has any meaning to a mechanical engineer... isnt all that stuff for electrical engineering guys?

Meh, I don't like any version of calc. In the Engineering Technology program, we don't focus much on calculus, we can use algebra and trig to get nearly anything we need. We already have formulas for everything else. Either way, we do have to take 2 calc classes. The first is pretty much calc 1, the second is calc 2, calc 3, and differential equations all rolled into one class. By themselves I can do it, but cramming this much info into 1 semester is proving to be a little difficult.
