  • New Z06 - Stuck Clutch!

So word on the street is that the clutch in the new Z06 gets overheated and stuck to the floor in racing situations. I went to the track yesterday and saw it happen on a brand new Z06 who ran 14.9 in the 1/4 mile. Good Job GM! Must be nice to get a faulty clutch after spending 80 grand! :slap:

Do you know specific details of whats causing it?

I watched two Z06s hot lap an auto-x course all day. It was probably in the 90s that day and the brakes were screaming in pain by mid afternoon. They didn't seem to have any other problems though.

the new vettes aren't the only ones with those problems....04' CTS-V's did the same thing...at high revs the clutch would stick to the floor, as soon as the rpms went down the clutch came out...but ya, your right, something they shouldda fixed.

If you're referring to your Viper don't let your head get too big. I've been in the Viper Assembly plant in Michigan. I've talked to the guys that build them. You do not want to know how some of those conversations went. I would rather have an assembly line produced car than have some of the guys I talked to working on my car.

And I have talked to some of the guys that build the machinery that builds the cars in the assembly line... They aren't as perfect as you think. :D

My head is not big, I was just poking fun at the Z06 guys, whom I befriend anyhow.

FWIW, most of the Z06's are hand built. Each and every LS7 produced is built by hand. Each engine is even coded to the person that built it.

                    Yeah parts of them are.
In fact I can't and won't even argue that the Z06 is not a better build, it was just a fun-poking comment.

haven't had any issues with mine, and I drive it rather aggressively. And I'm 67 BHP over the stock power levels.
