Question about tickets

Anyone know what the rough area of the fines might be for the following 3 charges in the state of california? I got pulled over last night, and I will admit I am guilty on two of them, but the third charge is bull**** and the cop has no proof.

Stoplight violation/went too far over the line
Expired Registration/expires Sept 07, thought I had til end of month

Now for the bull**** charge.

Exhibition of Speed/ cop claims I was doing burnouts and fleeing a crime scene involving a bar fight, the bar is right down the street from where I live. The stupid thing is that he didn't see me doing them, only heard a car doing burnouts and suspected it was me seeing as how I was coming from the general direction of the fight. I will admit the tires did get loose last night, but only for a short second due to wet roads seeing as how it had just rained.

What do you guys think the fines for each will be? And how likely is it that I can get the Exhibition of Speed charge dropped? Worst part is the officer wouldn't listen to me when I tried to explain that the tires broke loose for a second, but that was due to an open differential, first gear, and wet roads.

they didnt take ur car? ur lucky a buddy of mine got his car taken for expired tags.

Go to court, explain word for word what happened. If you bring proof of tags then that can be dropped, don't know about the ligh one, but on the burn out and fleeing, well you will just have to tell the judge what happened.

What really worked for me last time, I called the attorney's office and talked to some guy that had all my charges dropped. But I had proof that the officer was wrong... you may be able to tell him what happened and he will tell you anything you need to know and your chances.

If that's all he saw, that's all he needs to write you up for Exhibition of Speed. If you admit that the wheels broke loose in court, the judge is gonna make that charge stick...no matter how breif it was.

Keep in mind, the cop didnt actually see it. He admitted he didnt see it. But he heard it coming from the vicinity of where I was. And yep my car wasnt impounded.

So did you tell him that the wheels broke loose? Or did he say that, and you agree?

I would either deny everything and hope for some luck or tell everything in detail... including that you do admit to scratching the tires and hope you get a reduction on your charges.

in that case, it would be the cop's word vs. the word of a 24 year old with 2 other charges in addition to the one he's trying to fight. Won't be a hard choice for the judge to make

thats why it would be a chance and I gave him two choices. If he totally denies then he has a small chance of paying nothing, but has a large chance of paying for it all... if he talks to the judge and tells his story then he has a great chance of asking for a diversion and such.

My friend, a cop in CT, said he cannot write a ticket for anything he does not personally witness.
