It's pretty nasty. There is water standing in the floorboards. The front seats are still wet but seem to be drying. The back seats are soaked. The center console and cup holders are full of water. Everything seems to be working except the drivers side window. I called my insurance company and filed a claim but I'm not sure if they'll do anything. I'm mostly worried about rot and mildew. Anyone have this happen before? What should I expect from my insurance company? They told me to wet-vac it and I did but it's still really bad. What a stupid ****ing mistake

Re: Well, my Firebird got flooded last night. Left the tops off and it stormed.
If i were you, i would remove the seats, center console and pull out the carpet, its really not that hard to do...
once you get the carpet out, set it out to dry, or wash it and then dry it, and clean the floor under the carpet to get all the nasty sh!t out...
Otherwise, your right,... its probably gonna smell terrible and possibly start rusting under there.
for the couple of hours it will take to do, definatley worth it
you can take the seats and have them cleaned or just let them dry and febreez the crap outa them*Matt

I left mine off in a t-storm once but i got the t-tops on after about 20 minutes of it raining. The front of my car was soaked but not the back. I left the tops off for the next couple of days either in the garage or out in the sun and it dried out real nice.

Definitely pull the interior. You can even pull the covers off the seats. You'll have to take a couple other bolts out to seperate the top and bottom sections, and remove the seatbelt guide at the top). The bottom section has plastic lips that snap to the bottom of the seat frame. The top section's cover has two plastic lips that snap together at the bottom of the seatback. Both of these covers are held onto seat cushion by some heavy duty velcro. This whole process is actually quicker and easier than it sounds. It'd be good to remove them from the seat cushions, and dry them out seperately, and also make sure your seat foam dries out nice too.~Chris
1999 Hugger Orange Camaro
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/273836

†…faith…hope

I'd go rent a carpet cleaner(one with upholstery attachment... clean the carpets and seats...
it throws a little soap in there but also sucks the water out. I would pull my seats and bring them in the house. Let them dry out in AC, unless you can get them out in the sun.
If you have time/energy, you can pull the entire interiou but not sure how to clean out the sound deadening material.

I also agree with pulling the carpet. You don't want the floor pans to rust and there will be mildew under the carpet. I would say pull the carpet (might take an hour or so) and wash it with a light detergent and then hang it outside to dry for awhile. Should work out nicely. But get the floor pans dry in a hurry!2000 Camaro V6
I\'ve done nothing to my car worth note. :)
