honestly you should check out Austin, plenty of the stuff you seem to be looking for, tech jobs are a plenty and it's not slowing down.
Part of me says dallas but after living here a few years I have discovered it takes a very specific type of person to live here, I dunno if I am that type of person so I don't think I'd recommend it right now.
It has really gotten too spread out, yes there are plenty of good paying jobs but to have a nice house in a decent part of town (or out of town) you gotta drive 45 min - 1 hour each way in traffic if you commute during rush hour.
With that said when it's not rush hour you can get to anywhere in 30 minutes if you aren't afraid of the left lane and the skinny pedal

I've lived in Denver since 1995. And did a stint of 5 years before that.
Denver is a fun place to live, with a lively Downtown. So people want to live here.
That makes housing more expensive than the other places you mentioned. A real estate agent could give you numbers. Other costs are pretty much the same everywhere.
It also makes competition for jobs stiffer. Unless you're in retail, I wouldn't move here without having a job lined up first. I've seen people do that and have to move back.
Bottom line. You don't move to Denver to improve your economic situation, unless you get lucky. You move here to improve your quality of life, particularly with regard to outdoor recreation. The motorcycle riding is superb. Lots of sun, even in the winter. I can do things on any Saturday that people spend a lot of money to do on a vacation. Hike, bike (mountain or road), etc. in beautiful mountains. I sometimes ride my motorcycle to Vail just to have lunch.
I'd be happy to provide more detail, if you like.

So... Detroit (suburbs) are losing it for me. Cost of living is going up everywhere here and pay continues to plummet. Have not had a raise in 4 years and heat in this area alone will go up another 6-10% over last year.
So I'm looking for jobs outside of MI right now. I need some info from people around the country.
Looking at Denver (downtown) and Miami and Hollywood.
I need what it actually costs to live in these places. Not living in da hood either. Right now I live in a nice "country" type community north of Detroit. My drive is 25 miles one way, all freeway. In an apt with detached garage for keeping my toys. I can get to any store/fastfood/mall in 10 mins or less. I can also see deer and other critters in my yard.
What does it cost to live in these areas?
(first one to mock, post bad things, or in general something I don't like.... be warned)
I don't know so I'm asking but are you sure housing in Denver is more than Miami and Hollywood? I thought those two citys were rediculous housing market right behind New York City and San Francisco. I don't know so I was just asking, don't think I'm stirring anything, just asking. :)

Not against KY at all.. it's close enough to wheeling, nice roads for the bike... and VERY little snow :D
Not in Detroit or Michigan. We need a new Mayor(city of detroit) and Governor around here.
agreed
i usually vote democrat, but last round i definitely didnt vote for that broad to sit around and screw stuff up for another term
and kilpatrick is just stupid... or brilliant for managing to get elected again
this state is in serious trouble
As a person from Orlando / Central Florida who moved to South Florida:
Vast majority of Central Florida employers are rinky-dink little dumps compared to South Florida. Absolutley no comparison of the size, depth, variety of the job markets between the two.
Orlando has the worst - repeat:worst - roads in the US. Over-crowded for their size, poorly maintained, tons of lights, and very high tolls. I love Orlando - but it has gone down the tubes over the past 15-20 years.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
2008 Saturn Sky Red Line - Midnight Blue Pewter Mafia - 2000 Firebird - SOLD CENTRAL FLORIDA KNIGHTS!!!!!!! FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES!!!!!!!
If you do look into Miami. Look into areas outside of miami... Ft. lauderdale, Plantation, Davie, etc...
I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale(Plantation, and I live like 15-20 min from Miami.) But its cheaper then Miami. I don't really know the pricing down there.
Orlando is ok I guess... Alot of industries... forgot the big one. NASA, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. Also a dragstrip and not to far form Daytona. And since you are into Bikes, don't forgoet Bike week, Biketoberfest, and well year round riding.
As for Hurricanes... LOL don't sweat them, they are not a big deal. I have been outdoors for htem. **** I had class in highschool during a Category 1 wasn't bad.
the only reason I would worry about hurricanes is added home owners insurance.

I'll agree... I moved from Ft. lauderdale to Orlando...
But e-pass, and high speed lanes that are nearly everywhere, you really don't notice it until you get the $40 automatic refill charge on your e-pass.
Paying tolls suck... but no state tax, and its great having tourist pay for your ****.
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
