Re: MP3 Player Stolen out of my Desk

I think everyone missed the WHOLE point.

I've seen each and EVERYONE of you post here and whine/*****/piss/moan/complain about something. And don't sit there and say.. "not me?!?!" Because that's BS.

Plain and simple, she had to do what she was required by the school. Student broke a rule.

The STUDENT should be looking at his peers to find out who the thief is!! I don't know if any of you had your cars broken into and stereos or what have you stolen on SCHOOL property, but they don't cover you. It's YOUR problem. I've tracked down the morons (YES, MORONS!) that stole my gear a few times.

A thief is a thief. Student should be more pissed with his peers and himself than a teacher.

My class IS fun. It doesn't matter how interesting or fun you make learning, there will always be a clown or two thrown into the mix. And thanks for the suggestion, but I don't need to change my teaching style for one or two students whose issues probably go way deeper than not wanting to learn. I work individually with students to get to know them also. Judging by the way my classes fill up quickly and are actually overcrowded, it is safe to say that I am one of the more respected/liked teachers in school. I've built my program up from 2 classes in the high school to 7 full classes over a period of 6 years and have MANY years of experience under my belt.

The funny part of that situation is... he thought he could multi-task and listen to the IPOD while doing his work and talking to his friend. I play the role of pyschiatrist, disciplinarian, parent, and teacher each and every day with 170 students. And imagine... get paid decently for it. So one kid will not break my day. I deal with everything from honors students to kids with drug addictions, various classifications, and learning disabilities. Many students are on prescription drugs for ADHD or ADD. Divorce and single parent homes are also an issue. Basically, what I'm trying to say here, is that there is not a lot of time to spend coddling a kid that thinks he can do whatever he wants.

I'm not trying to "bash" pizza delivery people...it was an example that I thought of when I pictured one of my ex-students. $25 an hour to deliver pizza isn't bad when your 19 years old. How much does the gas money cost to deliver all of those pizzas? How about taxes? State, government, and federal? Sorry 98, but you can't seriously sit there and tell me your friend has 2 cars (including a $50,000+ Escalade),an apartment, and 2 atv's making only $25 an hour. :bs: It's probably the ole "yeah, I paid for everything myself syndrome. My mommy and daddy didn't help me out at all." I hear it all the time in school when kids get brand new BMW's, Mustangs, and Infinitis handed to them and they are too embarrassed to tell everyone who paid for it. The only other way I could see this being possible is if you are in a demographic area that is DIRT CHEAP to live in with an exception of high wages. Which is highly doubtful. Or the kid is waist-high in debt. I want to see facts to back this up and a copy of the paystub please.

Regardless, my point was... that might be good as a part-time job but by no means is that a CAREER unless you OWN your own business.
